Another suggestion is to buy a gas califont. Looks like you can buy from a marine shop but basically it's an instant hot water heater that uses a basic BBQ propane tank as fuel. It instantly heats the water as it runs through the heating element. I've even seen them on tradme so depending on where you live you might be able to pick one up cheap.

This is what we had planned but of course my DH didn't try it out before the day and it was an old califont that we couldn't get to work and my DS popped out in 4 hours so there was no time either.

If we have a next one I'm planning to BUY a birthing pool (check out www.h2ohbaby.co.nz and a new califont to heat up the water. Instant hot water on demand - bliss!
