I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this? I am 12 weeks pregnant and have already had 2 small biopsies on my cervix which showed cancerous cells. They can't be sure how extensive it is yet, but the cone biopsy could be the treatment as well as a further test.
I'm pretty sure you arent meant to get treatment while pregnant. One of the reasons why is that your cells will be different and constantly changing anyway due to pregnancy. The other reason I would imagine would be therisk of blbleeding and other side effects of touching your cervix during pregnancy. Surely the gynaecologist would suggest waiting til post pregnancy? I would have a God discussion with then about the benefits vs the r isks and also weather it is recommended during pregnancy.
I have had a good discussion with the consultant already, I need the treatment as I have cervical cancer and waiting is very dangerous to my own health. I have had the previous smaller biopsies to ensure as little risk as possible is imposed on the pregnancy - however, as they have come back as cancerous I need further investigation to ensure it has not spread any further.
I am in my first trimester with adenocarcinoma and looking at treatment via a cone biopsy as well. I have to wait a couple of weeks for the hospital to come back with a definitive plan. Quite nerve wracking.
