Birthing at Birthcare Parnell / Transfers

Hi there,

I'm keen on birthing at Birthcare Parnell and it's my midwife's preferred birthing place too. I'm planning for a natural birth with no intervention if avoidable so it seems like the right place for me (also low risk, smooth pregnancy etc.).

BUT, my parents are on the paranoid side and being very forceful that I should birth at the hospital in case of complications. Birthcare is so close to the hospital and I know transfers are easy but they think transfers aren't good enough, that you should already be on site.

Does anyone have any experiences of transferring from Birthcare to AKL Hospital when complications came up? What are your views on it?

If anyone has birthed at both Birthcare and the hospital, views on which you prefer would be great too.
