I am due around Christmas and struggling to find a midwife. Most of them in my area have very little experience, and the more experienced ones are all busy at that time or going on holiday. I'm thinking we might need to go private just to get some capable care. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It just seems like a lot of money when pregnancy is supposed to be free in NZ.

Hi. Yes i had the same problem! I live in Whangarei and i rang around 10 different mid wifes before i found one who would take me on. I was getting quite worried as this is my first baby. My due date is 1st January 2016. All the best with your search ☺
