I am currently 8 weeks 1 day pregnant with my first. I had my first scan a few weeks ago to check dates and that everything was going ok, we saw the heartbeat and they said everything was perfect! For the last month or so I have been getting all the usual mild cramps and nausea, constipation etc but yesterday and today I have been getting some quite intense cramps and they feel a little bit different than they have over the last few weeks, so I'm just a little bit worried that something is wrong. I know the risk of miscarriage lowers considerably after you have seen the heartbeat (or so the internet says) but i am just making myself sick with worry and I don't have my first midwife appointment until next week! If anybody has any advice I would really appreciated it!
I would ring your dr or nurse and ask for their advice. At the very least it will help calm your nerves, don't wait until your midwives appt as that will drive you insane waiting. Fingers and toes crossed everything goes ok. Wishing you the best.
I fully get where your coming from. Early days can mean we as expectant mothers worry alot. I am assuming you are not bleeding? Even a small amount of blood ring your midwife asap. Brown blood = old blood BUT red blood = fresh blood so not a good sign. Even if you have not met your MW yet still ring ahead. Healthline is also a really good resource.
Cramps can be a sign of implantation OR your uterus stretching OR something wrong OR ... list any other reason here. There are many reasons for cramping. For me, my constipation was awful awful awful. Was very painful on my lower abdomen (felt like really bad cramps x90) and made me nauseous also. You could be experiencing something similar. I only suggest that because everything you have just described sounds exactly like what I went through. My constipation/cramping was quite bad -I was using a public restroom in town when a massive wave of cramps hit me bad enough that I had to cover my mouth so I didnt scream. After 12 wks baby moved up and the pressure was taken off my bowel. In any situation I would most certainly contact your MW if your not sure about anything. No question is a stupid question.
If you are bleeding definitely see someone about that. When you are next at the dr you could ask about stool softeners they are so helpful. I swear stool softeners are better than winning the lotto when your really backed up. lol.
