Oh I thought it was to do with the elevating of your body temperature - if you sleep with it on you can get pretty hot before you realise. (I have always slept with mine on - and will miss it this year!)

Yeah, I would watch it in the first tri too, when they say that heat can effect the fetus development. Like how they warn against spas and hot pools and staying in hot baths too long.
i was pregnant with haleigh over winter and can say i slept in a singlet and undies the whole winter she kept me warm enough lol.
i prefer hotties and whetbags for heat, adn i wouldnt recomend sleeping while the electric blanket is on if you use one. DF wont even allow one on our bed because of the fires hes seen caused by them from not properly storing them or sleeping while they are on.
I also had a client who slept with hers on and has 3rd degree burns over her body.
so other than those risks and the risk of overheating i wouldnt reocmend sleeping with one on.
I was told to try not to overheat throughout the whole pregnancy where possible.
