Hi, has anyone with hypermobility experienced their joints come apart more than they should due to the relaxin hormone?? I had degradation damage to my hips, gluteal muscles and sacro-illiac joints (SIJ) prior to pregnancy. While pregnant my SIJ ligaments became so loose that I had to wear a lumber support belt to keep the joints together. It was incredibly painful and cause major discomfort to walk, move around in my sleep, getting in and out of vehicles. I am considering pregnancy number 2 and have been concerned that I will experience the same again. I still regularly have pain in my SIJ, 4 years on. I've been seeing specialists trying to find someone who can diagnose why the SIJ came apart so much and if there's anything I can do to minimise it next time. One specialist informed me that my SIJ came apart because I am hypermobile, not because my SIJ ligaments are damaged. I have never heard of anyone else experiencing this to the same extent that I did. Are there any hypermobile women out there with perfectly healthy joints that experienced what I did? Should I accept this is my normal or should I be still searching for answers??
