QuoteReplyTopic: Which type of Merino Go Go Bag... Posted: 26 March 2008 at 2:12pm
is most suitable for Winter in Auckland? I'm inclined to think that the Duvet weight one will be too warm and that the standard weight one will be sufficient, particularly as Eva is a warm bub. I'd love to hear about peoples experiences of the two types. Thanks!
We haven't done winter in our standard one yet but I've got a merino nightie from JK to put her in underneath. That's what the website recommends - although I'm sure they'd rather I bought their merino stuff.
I think a duvet one will be too hot in North Shore too unless we have an unusually cold winter.
I think it depends on how your house keeps the heat too. We have a very old house that isn't well insulated, over winter (according to my gro bag egg) the babies room got down to 11 and 12 degrees. Way too cold!! We'll be using the winter weight one.
Right now, Cooper has a long sleeve AIO under his standard bag.
we will be using the winter weight one as well combined with merino PJs and a singlet. using the standard one at the moment and a long sleeved top and pants.
From my understanding- standard was for 18C + and the winter one for 18C and below and I know the room temp in our room defintely goes below 18 in winter.
we are using the winter weight one at the moment and I just put a long sleeved top under him. His room fluctuates between 16 and 20 at the moment. If it is really cold I put a light blanket over top if it is warmish I just put a sheet (to tuck him in)
The gremlins have Grobags instead of GoGo Bags but definitely got the wear out of their winter weight ones last winter, and have just gone back into them last night now that it's a bit cooler at night. Atm they just have a t-shirt and nappy underneath but in the winter their room gets down to 16 degrees with a heater on low and they wear a singlet, PJ's and the Grobag with no blankets.

I was reading on the website that the normal go go bag (not the duvet one) is fine for rooms that don't go below 18 degrees - we just bought this one, but I stocked up on their sleep suits - the cotton ones are half price at the moment.
I live in Canterbury and we have used a standard weight one for the last 2 winters. I just put DD in a singlet and her PJ's and she was fine. Admittedly we have a newish house and I had a heater on low as well but even when she started kicking off the blankets she was toasty warm. Also meant we could use it as it warmed up as well the winter weight would have been too hot.
