wish i could be of some help but my situation is quite the opposite, i want to work and i enjoy my job.
dh wants me to quit to be with the kids 24/7
i work 4-5hrs a day
dh hates hearing about my job and basicly any problems i have at all with the kids/work or not having time to do something he doesnt want to hear about all he says is see i told you, ive told you to quit and if you wont then i dont want to hear about it.

and the reason i guess that i go to work is as were only elligable for $24 a week from working for families

Hmmm id to stay home fulltime, alas the funds dont allow it and DH gets to stay at home and look after our most precious bundle.

If I had stayed at home we wouldnt have been able to do all the extra fun stuff like baby beans and swimming classes etc .. which is obviously not compulsary, but we wanted to be able to give her things without worrying too much about the $$'s

But its cool ... Issy comes to visit Mummy at work all the time

I work from home and have done so since Daniel was 1 day old.  In the begining it was a breeze because he slept so much during the day, but now that he is older it is very difficult.  The phone will ring and he will be screaming so I have to ignore it (the phone of course) often I have been on the phone while he has been sleeping and he's woken - I can hear him screaming in his room but the person on the other end of the phone can't I totally tune out to the call and hurry it up so I can go to him.  He just demands so much attention now and has probabkly done so for the past 6 weeks.  I now get up at 5.30am so I can get work done before he wakes.  So while it is great working from home it is also tough!!! It is also awful willing them to sleep so you can get work done instead of enjoying the time they are awake.  Just thought I'd give an opinion from someone that works from home.

thats ok, id hoped to hear from those that worked from home.
i think if it would be best if i get someone in every day for even 2 hours so i can get some work done. My DH also works shift work so is home quite often. a friend of mine has also offered to have him whenever i need to.

Verena I can totally understand where you're coming from. After trying to go back to work then resigning I did some stuff from hom for them. I was up at 4.30am sometimes just to get through it and always waiting for him to sleep again so I could "get on with it". It really does take away some of the pleasure of being at home with your baby. I was still going when I had number 2 but by the time he was a few months old I just had to can it, even after being offered an unreal payrate to continue. Luckily we could just ($7.00 a week spare) afford to live without the extra money coming in.
