We always thought about starting the girls early but never did as we thought it was things we could teach them ourselves, and alot we have, however, eating our words now, and have jsut started them at age 5 and 3. I cannot beleive how confident paris has gotten in the 2 lessons she has had - the 1st week she looked a bit unsure at being in the water without me or mike, and having to learn things, but had picked it up very nicely and can now float on her back, and kick and dives into the water, goes under and plays games etc. We went swimming after ayja's lesson on sunday and whereas paris used to cling to us, she was the oppostie - we weren't allowed to hold her, (of course we stayed next to her) and she was going under the water and swimming along under it.
We have friends who started their daughter at age 2 and she is doing wonderfully and now learning backstroke at age 4. I think it's a very important thing to learn, and it's nice to have that time with them - since i'm a water-baby myself and i have missed it so much because mike doesn't like swimming much. now we do it as a family.
