Hello all
Third time round Mother having issues! Help!
Brennan seems to only be feeding from one side each feed for around ten mins....and it is seeming to be only around every 4 hours ......

With both the others I feed religiously at 3 hours and would wake them to feed as per advice of midwife and would feed both of them ten mins on one side and ten on the other....

Paige was great and handled it well..Blake was full of wind and colic and eventually reflux but put on right from the start 500 grams per week but was unsettled.....

I am not sure what to do???

What would you do...Brennan seems a bit more settled with doing this however not sure if its right seen as he is so little?????

If he's settled, I'd assume he's getting enough. Perhaps he's just an efficient feeder. What's his weight like?

If he's gaining weight well and seems content then I reckon he must just be a really efficient feeder!

I found Jett only fed off one side per feed.  I can't remember how often he fed though.  Through the day in his first few weeks, he'd slept for around 4 hrs at a time, but would wake every 3-4 hrs through the night.

R & G also took both sides at each feed.  I was a lot more relaxed with Jett, and would let him tell him when he'd need a feed.  He put on weight really fast though, so it wasn't a problem.

Congrats on your new little boy as well!  He looks gorgeous.  I thought you were suppose to be an August mummy??

My babies:

R (9),G (7), J (5)

Oh and Issy only fed from one side per meal time ... (every three hours) ... sometimes at night she would have a "snack" on the other before falling asleep.

Daniel only fed on one side per meal. Plunket made me feel guilty for only doing one side but he was happy so I ignored them

jack would only feed on one side for about the same length of time as brennan.....and he'd wake to feed every 4hrs too. he would've gone longer too if i'd let him!

Sounds exactly like the way Lauren fed too, as long he's content I would think he is satisfied on one side only. Lauren only ever took both sides maybe half a dozen times in the 7 months I b/f her, she was quite satisifed on just the one side!

As long as he's gaining weight and also is filling lots of really wet and pooey nappies then all is good.

DD1 was a mega-feeder, both sides and at least 10min a side, if not more. DD2 is a one-side feeder and for short amounts of time, only occasionally does she do a big long feed and very rarely on both sides, but is still piling on the weight and very happy. I think it's a combination of her being an efficient feeder and maybe my body being more efficient at supplying the milk.
Mum to two gorgeous girls!
