 Topic: what is your dinner/bedtime routine

ok so I am wanting to Megan to eventually have the same meals as us at dinner time which will mean us having dinner a bit earlier. her bedtime is 6:30pm.
I am thinking of having dinner say 5:30pm (will have to figure out when my husband gets home from work) then giving her a milk feed around 6pm then bath then bed at 6:30pm.
now of course that will mean me having to prepare/start diner around 4:30pm I don't usually start diner till after I have put Megan to bed. so will take a bit of organizing on my part. DH said he will help out with the evening routine by giving her a bath.
he starts his new job in 2 weeks times so going to give it a bit of trial run before then.

At the moment it's like this:
5:15pm - family dinner
6:15pm - bottle
6:30pm - bathtime (DH does that when he's here)
6:45pm - story
7pm - bed
It works well for us, although it did take some adjusting to the early mealtimes - I found I was hungry again by 8pm for the first few nights! I did settle into it though.

Ooo heaps! Check out the recipes thread - there's a couple of crockpot ones. Mel is the crockpot recipe queen I did whole chicken today, yesterday I did a sausage casserole thing, I've done stews, lamb shanks, chicken dishes....

our routine is
Ella Dinner at 5
staight after Ellas dinner I start preparing our dinner (easy to cook meals) or sometimes I prepare it while she has her afternoon nap and then just chuck it in the oven to cook later on.
Our dinner with Ella sitting in her highchair sharing our food 5.45ish
Bath staight after dinner 6.15ish , milk and then staight to bed.
At the moment she still needs to have her dinner earlier than us, as there is no one she can hold out until 5.45.

We all eat together at 5.30pm, boys are bathed at 6pm, Kal has bottle at 6.30pm then stories & bed by 7pm.
I generally get dinner prep done while Kal has his arvo nap

5:30pm: Daniels dinner, I'm only just starting to do the odd meal with us now as DH is rarely home before 6
6:15pm: Start the bath, we get in with him
6:40pm: bottle then bed, usually asleep within 5 mins or so.

6pm Quiet time (story is good to wind her down)
6.15pm 180ml Bottle in Dim Room
6.25pm In Bed
6.35 Sound asleep (unless it was last night LOL)
I usually do the entire bedtime routine while DF cooks and watches the other 3 kids, or vice versa.. it varies on different days of the week

4.30pm Jack has dinner
5.15pm-ish DH arrives home, spends time with Jack
6pm We have dinner and Jack shares some of it
6.30pm-ish DH baths Jack
7pm-ish dressed in dim room, sing 'heads, sholders, knees and toes'  , say goodnight to DH, watch projector, in bed
7.30pm asleep by now or earlier
I use the crockpot often or prepare while DH is playing with Jack. You can pretty much do anything in the crockpot. I often do Apricot Chicken - use the Maggi sachet, frozen chick pieces, about 9hrs on low

Ours looks like this:
5pm - Oli has dinner
5.30pm - DH gets home (a couple of times a week he gets home more like 6-6.30ish). We both spend some time with Oli, or I start to get our dinner ready.
Normal bathtime is about 6.30ish, but if he is really tired we will do it earlier!
6.45pm - bottle, then bed. He is always asleep before 7pm!
I have started to use my crockpot a lot, and I also make a lot of stirfries (that only take 20mins to make!).
I am looking forward to when Oli is a bit bigger and eating the same as us, so we can all sit down together. I am guessing that we will just push his teatime forward a little and try to eat around 5.45ish.

We all have dinner together at 6, then bath, boys the have a half hour play, 7milk then toilet teeth getting into snuggle suits etc seems to take us through till 7.30 when they have a story then off to bed.
I generally prepare dinner throughout the day, casseroles, lasagna, shepherds pies etc that can be made and simply re-heated.

Good thread. This is going to take some adjusting to. At the moment Tom gets his tea at 5.30 and DH and I eat afterhe has gone to bed. usually around 7.30pm for our dinner.

We still don't have a concrete routine, as Phoenix was settling nicely into one, he's had things like teething and colds that have thrown everything out of wack. In saying that, he has just gone to bed... though I know as he is sick, it won't last.
Thanks for this thread ladies, it gives me somthing to use for when things are a bit more concrete.
