Just a couple of things to note - you don't need to buy nappy cream at all. You can get a giant tub of zinc & caster oil cream on prescription from your doctor (free). Likewise Pamol.
Also, if you stock up on nappies, and find you have too many newborn ones, just take any unopened pack to Foodtown, and they will swap them for you, no questions asked.
For the early weeks, we only used nappy liners dipped in warm water instead of wipes. The one time we used a wipe, he came out in a nappy rash - their skin is just so sensitive when they are newborn. We moved onto wipes no problem when he was about 8 weeks old I thinks.
