What do you dress you bubs in with their winter weight Go Go bags?

Last winter we ran a heater in lil miss' room to take the chill off but it put our power bill up by around $100 a month . So this winter I've invested in 2 duvet weight Go Go bags to hopefully avoid the need for the heater.

We have a room thermometer and her room drops to around 16 degrees overnight. I've been putting her down in the Go Go Bag, a cotton or merino short sleeve singlet and a merino all-in-one and she's been fine but last night she played up a bit and her hands felt freezing so tonight I've put a merino cardy on top as well as the AIO, singlet and sleep sack.

Is that overkill? She doesn't have any blankets on her at all.

When I bought mine, the shop assistant ASSURED me that as long as the room was 18 degrees, all I would need to dress Jackson in was a cotton AIO. She said if it was any cooler to just add an extra air cell blanket over top.

We have a dehymifier running in Jacksons room at night and I swear it makes a HUGE difference. His room is the warmest in the house!

I have the winter weight gogo bags and have had a small oil heater going in their room most nights since birth. I dress them usually in a longsleave thermal body suit in winter with tights or socks. I never feel like the bag itself is enough.

I may have to invest in one of these gogo bags, where can I buy one from??

I want to make sure my little one is all wrapped up and warm at night.

Nat, The Sleep Store website was having a sale on the GoGo bags. Maybe check it out?

I don't think that's overkill - I think it sounds about right.

We have a Nature Baby sleeping bag, which is supposed to be for sub-18 temps but I don't think it's thick enough, I think it's probably the same as a standard-weight gogo bag.

With that, she wears a merino singlet, close-fitting cotton PJs, and over the top an aircell blanket and a thick blanket if it's really cold. We run one of those econoheat panels in her room but I don't think that much of the heat is retained, it's more just to take the chill off the air.

I try to think about what I'd wear to bed... I don't think I'd be warm enough just sleeping in one of those sleeping bags...

Soph has a standard go go bag with a cotton short sleeved bodysuit and jim jams over top then her bag but as she likes to be tucked in we put a cotton sheet or cell blanket over to tuck in.
I did notice her wee hands have ben getting cold so might have to turn the heater on.

Ava has a winter weight gro bag which is equivalent to 2 blankets and a sheet. She wears a cotton vest, long sleeved cotton t shirt, bonds wondersuit and socks at the moment. Not sure what to put her in in winter when it is even colder!!! Her room drops to about 17-18 at the moment o'night.

We have invested in all the go go bags.  And so we decide depending on the weather.

On cold cold  nights (I know it is hard to tell what it is going to be like) we have the winter go go bag plus a merino long sleeved top.  But we were able to do well on most nights with a normal go go bag and a cotton/merino long sleeved.  And then we have a cotton sheet and a small blanket, but they usually end up on the other side of the cot.

Always remember that their body temperature does drop when they are sleeping, but also remember that babies do not sweat and so cannot deal with being overheated.  It is best to be a bit cooler than too hot.

I forgot to say when maddy was smaller we put her in the nature baby merino long nighty and did up the bottom and then put maddy in the go go bag.

At the moment I have both Tom and James in a long sleeved cotton bodysuit.  James also has a flannel sheet over him (but I doubt that would do anything other than make him feel tucked in).   I have bought some merino pants and long sleeve top from sweetcheeks but we seem good at the mo. However James' room hasnt dropped below 19 (even though its below zero outside at night......go insulation and double glazing)  Tom's gets down to about 16 but he's fine.  On a really cold night I might pop an aircell blanket over top of Tom in the wee hours to stop him waking too early.

Ha ha, yep soft as!

Good to know I'm not overcooking my baby then.

Tonight she's just in cotton singlet and PJ's with the winter bag coz it's not as cold as it was last night.

Yep your right nzpiper, soft as - well at least I am.

Though I am not going to go as far as my mum and give my children electric blankets.

But I love my go go bag, and I read that for toddlers it helps prevent them waking at night - anything for a good night sleep I say!

Wow, sounds like my girl is way under dressed! She's currently in a standard gogo bag and all she wears underneath is long sleeved cotton pjs! Her room has got down to 16 degrees in the morning, but she still feels warm to touch. We've never bothered with a winter weight bag, but have used a heater in winter

Golly .. Issy is usually in longsleeved cotton pjs and has only just gone into her standard weight gogo bag. (And we only did that as she woke up during the night about a week ago, before that she was in her summer one).

Although her room doesnt get cold .. we have a v warm house.

Now its cooler .. we tuck her in with her Little House Merino blanket .. but she still manages to wiggle out from underneath it lol
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog

I haven't actually moved to a winter one yet, but we have moved to our winter pjs - I am just going to thick cotton at the moment.

I won't be able to use the winter go go bag this year as I don't think they have or have in stock the toddler size as maddy wears size 3 and her baby one is too small.

So it will be interesting this year to see what happens....

Hi girsl, What about new borns? Did you have your new born in gogobag from birth? Im expecting my first child in july and dont know if i should have him in winter gogo bag from day one ? or just wrap him and have a long sleeve bodsuit and nightgown on? will this be enough in winter to keep him warm? i bought a nightgown for him yesterday from JK Kids (ones that are open at the end, without the drawstring) wouldn't his legs be cold as its open?? im a bit confused..
thanks Girls

I didn't put maddy in a go go bag until she didn't need to be wrapped, as she needed to be wrapped up tight.

When they are little they don't move around as much, especially if you decide to wrap them.

Merino kids have a cool thing called a cocooi.  My friend loved them, but they were too loose for maddy, she needed to be nice and tight.

Also they have a special for newborn sleepbags, cocooi and gown.  Which will see you through.

in winter i had her in a singlet, pj's, winter gogo bag and then a lovely crocheted blanket.
