Topic: Entertaining a 10 month old Posted: 11 May 2009 at 2:38pm |
I think my son is incredibly bored at home. He is in home based care two days a week and loves it. We were visiting a friend and her 2 year old yesterday and he spent 2 hours chasing her around having the time of his life (and he slept really well). At home, we tend to just hang out, he's often pottering and not doing much physical - more playing with his toys and is more likely to get grizzly. Now the weather's not so good, it makes going to the park more diffiult.
I'd love to hear what you do with your kids to keep them busy, active and happy.

OK, so can anyone tell me any stories of having bleeding for several days/weeks in early pregnancy and still carrying to term.
Would really appreciate it.

Daniel is home with me all day every day and even though the weather is crap. If it's not raining I just put him waterproof warm overalls and gumboots and let him go for his life outside, he thinks its brilliant even if its cold and mucky. We go through more clothes but he has so much fun outside and it wears him out much more than being cooped up inside. We did that last winter too and he would have been a similar age.

We do lots of chasing around the house, climbing over things, dancing etc. We also do like Stacey and just wrap up and go outside. Or we go to the swimming pool (it's indoors) and he lets off lots of physical energy there.

We do similar things as well - swimming, going outside if the sun is shining. We also go to mini muscles and even visit the library, Jamie loves playing with the toys and our library ladies are quite happy to have him crawling around exploring as long as I put the books back on the shelves.

I don't have that problem - lil miss is more than happy to just follow her big sisters around the house. If they're in bed or out she is incredibly clingy and whingy, I don't think she knows what to do with herself lol.

Ha Felicity it is funny how I find myself saying oh maybe another would be nice now. I find the slapping myself across the face works well or going into the bathroom and seeing the pile of washing also helps. LOL.
WE play chase or go for a walk in the buggy or go to a friends place or the library. It is hard finding things to do.

Mine is not quite as old but we do have some happy, cheap solutions for getting bored at home.
We have a set of shops about 5-7 mins' walk from here. We go out frequently even just to nosey. Particularly good ones are the op-shops where there will always be old ladies who like to talk to bubs! Also going to the fruit & vege shop and naming all the produce is fun.
Failing that, just going to visit friends nearby or the neighbours ... just for a change of scene. People are often stoked when you 'just pop in' to see them - it makes them feel special!

On rainy days, I sometimes run Ella a big bath in the middle of the day and let her play in there as long as she wants. I also sometimes put her old baby bath in the shower and fill it up and let her bath her 'bubba' (although most of time Ella ends up jumping in there as well ).
also from that age a tent and tunnel was really popular with her (and still is now) and often we sit in her tent having morning or afternoon tea.

**slaps self** | Oh come on. You can do it with me. I'm finding he gets really bored too. I snaffled my lil brothers old BOB the Builder CD, which has some funny songs on it and we do some dancing til I get tired. He likes looking out the front window at the cars going past so I put some of his toys on the sil, (its a low window) and he plays with them. I know this is sad, but he loves watching TV.
