Hello ladies, a question for all you been there, done that mummies. How long did it take for your mummy tummy to go down? I know I sound really vain asking about this, but I'm curious. I was a size 10 before I had my large baby boy bundle of joy (now 5 months) and am now a size 14. My legs and arms are OK but I have a rather large bum and still look about 4 months preggy! How long did it take for your mummy tummies to go down? I go out walking most days and eat reasonably healthily. I haven't given up my treats (eg choccie) coz sometimes on a bad day that's the only thing that keeps me going lol!

Another question to throw out there: hyperlactation (too much milk). I have this problem. Yes it sounds great, but it actually is a problem. You can't overfeed your baby or you will stimulate too much milk production almost immediately and then get very engorged and spray everywhere! Also, your baby can get too much foremilk which upsets their guts. When I do get engorged I take off a wee bit of foremilk otherwise my bub gets so sore and upset. Does anyone else have this issue?? If so, I would love to hear about your experiences and any tips you may have

Not any tips, but just to say im in the same boat. Was a size 10 pre bubs, but had pre eclampsia and put on 30kgs, most of it has gone as it was just fluid, but whats left is round my tummy/waist. And now its starting to look saggy and empty now the weight is coming off.

I will admit to being one of those people I love to hate! I got Gestational Diabetes at 29 weeks and so did not end up putting on anymore weight before the end of my pregnancy and was back to pre pregnancy size within a few months and I am now smaller than I was before pregnancy and that is without trying, I really think it is because I had to be so healthy at the end of my pregnancy. My sister put on 25 kgs though and by the time my nephew was one she had lost it all and is back to normal. They do say 9 months to put on 9 months to lose!

Hyperlactation - I had an abundant supply of milk for the first few months and it was hard to manage, I ended up feeding only one side per feeds for a long time so as to not give too much foremilk and also it seemed to help DD's reflux this way. After about 4 months though I started on both sides at each feed as she seemed to need it, but at around 5 months my milk just suddenly started to dry up and before DD was 6 months I stopped BF as it seemed there was nothing there and she would get very upset, when I stopped BF I had no discomfort or engorgement which to me proved there was really nothing there, was kind of strange to go from way too much to nothing, I could be completely wrong but it was like my milk just dissapeared??? I found the BF "experts" on healthline quite helpful in regards to oversupply and tips to manage it.

I was a nice size 6 - 8 BC (before child), during pregnancy I put on 31+ kg's, it came off slowly for me with gentle exercise and eating ok, the mummy tummy didn't start to smooth out at all until at least 9 months, and I've only last week been able to go jean's shopping. I'm now a comfy size 10, and the tummy isn't too bad! No way is it as flat as it once was, but my girl has to have somewhere soft to rest her head.

I still suffer from oversupply, tonight lil miss pulled off at her bedtime feed and milk squirted everywhere lol. Even now, at 13 mths, I still have to wear breast pads every day.

To make sure she was getting enough hind milk early on, i fed from once side at each feed - I had plenty of milk so she never managed to drain the breast and it meant that she didn't get 2 lots of foremilk (one off each side). The only downside of that is that she did get a bit constipated and have quite dry bowel motions as she was getting less foremilk, it was quite a balancing act making sure she was getting enough of each.

I put on 27kgs with my first baby, and didn't keep track of baby #2... I was a size 8, pre-pregnancy (first pregnancy that is) and now I'm about a size 14, but can wear mostly size 12 stuff in the last couple of weeks!! Yay! Hoping to keep losing a lot more but doubt I will ever be in size 8 stuff again. I still have a big tummy, I try to wear clothes that flatten it a little. I find it such a pain finding pants to wear since my jelly belly makes me look like a muffin in almost all pants    :S but I haven't been actively trying to lose my tummy yet. Planning on getting started on that any day now *hehe*

I still have a milk oversupply as well... it's a little easier now that Ollie can keep up with the supply a little better, and I don't leak AS much milk, but I still have to change breast pads at least 5-6 times a day *sigh*. I only feed Ollie off one boob at a time, so that he gets hind-milk to help settle his tummy. Either that or give him expressed milk, which has the fatty content mixed in with it, so his tummy gets less upset. He still gets really frustrated sometimes when he gets flooded with milk and he's too tired to deal with it, and I just give him a bottle of EBM and express when he's settled down a bit, or when he's in bed.
Chloe (4 years) and Oliver (3 years).

Loosing mummy tummys I think takes work. I had Jared 4 months ago, got sick of mine and with work I've lost 15cm from around my bellybutton area, and thats from running. I'm hoping I'll loose some more. Mine is going down between 1-2cm a week with exercise. It would go down with just eating properly but not as fast

I put on over 30kg during my pregnancy and am still 15kg heavier than I was BC (my boy is 1 now). If I got off my fat butt and did some more exercise and stopped eating so much I'd probably lose it. I go walking every day with bubba but I seem to have developed a chocolate addiction.

Kebakat you have inspired me. I'm going to up the intensity of my walks and cut down on - but not cut out - my treats. My goal is to take bubba to the swimming pool this summer and feel ok about being in my togs. Maybe I will do a few sit ups while I'm watching TV. I will encourage hubby to have his treats when he is away from me at work. He is naturally very lean and gets to eat anything he wants, problem is that I join in when he cracks open the biccies and chips!
