Topic: Wetting though nappies Posted: 10 September 2009 at 8:00pm |
Hi
DS is 2 weeks old and for the past couple of days hes been waking up from his sleeps totally wet though his clothing. The weird thing is his nappies don't seem saturated. We are using Treasures Giggles newborn sized.
I'm just wondering if the angle of his penis has anything to do with it? I know that sounds kinda weird but which way its pointing as to which way hes peeing? Does anyone have any ideas?

From my experience each nappy is different on each baby. The fit around the legs is really important. I found treaseures to always leak on DS no.3 but not on DS no.2
I had to switch to Huggies for DS no.3.
Good Luck - waking wet is no fun.

I'm not sure how big your son is, but if he's a big boy you may want to try him in the next size up. You can try switching brands, my girl would leak out of treasures for the first 2 and a half months, I had to use Huggies or cloth to keep her clothes dry.

make sure you point their willy down when you put the nappy on. DS is in cloth nappies now but a disposible overnight and had them as a newborn. we tried every brand cos got lots of samples and the only ones he doesnt leak through are huggies. different nappies fit different babies so i guess its trial and error

I agree, all nappy brands seem to suit different babies. I found Pams and Home Brand were just as good as Huggies, so try them too. Make sure his penis is pointing down, too!

Also, make sure the 'flaps' or edges around the legs of the nappy are pulled out, not tucked inside.

I've always found this with the giggles. We stick to Huggies and treasures ultra and have never had a problem with them. Plus Countdown usually has one or the other on a decent special. We always buy in bulk

I too found treasures leak. My conclusion is treasure is for skinnier legged bubs whereas my bubs had mega chub legs so we use Huggies or Homebrand (which work just as well) and we always use a size up to stop leaks through the night i.e. boys have been in the 10 -15kg nappies for 3 months now but arn't even 10kg yet.

I found that my DS would always have leakage issues with Treasures, even with his penis pointing down, and most of the time would have poo all up his back I quickly came to the conclusion that Huggies were the way to go, but always buy on special when they are $10 a pack. I find too that I don't need to change him as often I now use a mixture of MCN and Huggies
