A friend in the UK sent me a great parcel the other week with some great clothes for the boys. I would love to send something to her girls and was thinking of sending some picture books as they are light to post!

Can anyone recommend any great kiwi authors of picture books other then Linley Dodd? I am browsing TM as you can get some great new books at good prices.
Lindsey

My mum has bought some by a lady called Janet Martin, great stories like "Janet the Gannet" and "Louie the Tui" They are rhyming (sp?) stories similar to Lynley Dodd I think and all featuring native NZ birds.

We love "Down in the forest" written by Yvonne Morrison with gorgeous illustrations by Jenny Cooper.  Each page is about a different NZ animal and their babies - Jimmy's favourite is the "mother huhu beetle and her little grubs eight"  .

Yvonne Morrison does some more like down in the garden. Also does great Christmas ones.

Don't know the authors but the Mrs Parata books are great and also the Perky the Pukeko ones.
