Topic: TMI warning - BD and boobs question Posted: 20 November 2009 at 3:55pm |
Ok, so I really want to know I'm not alone here and there's no one I really want to ask irl...
I think my body is confused. Is there a way to control let down so it doesn't happen at an inconvenient time iygwim? DS is 5 months old now and I thought I would be over leaking everywhere by now.
Will it be much longer before I can have naked sex again? Sorry I did warn tmi but I am soooo over BD with bra and breast pads and still freaking leaking everywhere. Or is it just that's how life will be for as long as I'm bfing? In which case I'm gonna have to get over it.

You're not alone! I have now stopped leaking most times, my supply dropped a LOT when Jody was about 8-9mths. Now I only leak if a boob gets squished (hehe, adding to the TMI )

I remember, such a PITA huh?
I stopped using breastpads during the day when JJ was about 6 months. I stopped using them at night when he was about 9 months. Wasn't game for naked sex til JJ was over a year old though, although in hindsight we could have attempted it earlier. My instinct is to say it will settle down slowly - now that I think of it, when I stopped using breastpads during the day was soon after we had started introducing solids so maybe that's not a coincidence. I suspect it varies from person to person and boob to boob

Ah that brings back memories! I think the short answer is no, there's nothing you can do and yes, it will get better. I would always have a towel under me if we had naked sex till I stopped BF. I was a big leaker though (sounds like you might be too)
Man, the things I'd forgotten about. That and drippy boobs after the shower

Oh bugger, its going to be a while then. Thanks ladies, so good to know its not just me
Flissty, I guess drippy boobs after a shower and all that go away about the same time then. Great to know that it doesn't last forever and also that you even forget about it!!

I was warned in antenatal classes that orgasms can activate let down (good old oxytocin!).
I normally express before bed so dont need to wear pads anymore as Jake still feeds in the night but if I dont express I definately need them...
They are the only times I leak now.. or if they get a good squeeze

I stopped feeding bailey at 6 months and it was about a month after that before I could do it with no bra, Aidan was the same although I was solely expressing with him so Id express then 'do it' lol
this time I'm already having to wear a bra and pads grrr thought it wouldn't start till after bubs was born!

Oh I forgot about the delights of the milk bar!!
Maybe you could kill two birds with one stone and do it in the shower
I really cant offer any serious advice, I kind of found that there were so many icky things happening to my body while and after being pregnant if i didnt just laugh i may have cried.
But I do empathise, breast pads are hardly gonna put a fire in your belly
