When is a cut doctor worthy?

I jumped in the shower and left the kids to play in the lounge as usual when I came out Esme had blood on her foot. Turns out she had cut the underside of her big toe. The cut is very small only about 5mm but looks quite deep. It's not bleeding much but it's right in the base crease of her toe where it bends so it's tricky to get a plaster around. I have absolutely no idea what she cut it on!?!? I can't find any clues anywhere and our house is super babyproofed and tidy. I vacuumed twice yesterday! Just not sure if I should get the doc to check it out or not. Shes not crying and seems happy enough.

Oh and in case I didn't sound paranoid enough, after watching an oprah special about superbugs getting into cuts and killing people I'm now totally freaked lol. Note to self must not watch Oprah anymore!

If you are worried I would take her, but all they are probably going to do is give you anti bio cream etc. Tumeric and aloe vera mixed together on a bit of gauze and then tape it on is amazing for healing and stopping infection!
(and way better than anti bios) - which is way we have super bugs now anyway cause Dr's used to give anti bios for everything!

If it wont stop bleeding or sit closed then i get a doctor to look at a cut (me and not bubba)

i would think it will heal up just fine but maybe give it a wash with dettol or something if you are still worried

Us Mums are a paranoid bunch arent we!

It's odd I never would have thought I'd get so worried over something so minor. They haven't cut themselves at all until now only minor scratches.

Luke hurt himself, we found blood drops all over the place and it appears he fell and hit the skirting board, and that managed to cut, but it stopped bleeding - also in an akward place, and he was happy as!

I'm sure she'll be fine especially if she's happy too

I agree with the others, if it's only small and the bleeding has stopped, I wouldn't worry too much unless a few days go by and it doesn't seem to be healing. It's a tricky spot to get a plaster to stick on tho!

Maya cut her foot on a piece of glass at the beach when she was 2. It was quite deep and bled quite a lot but was a nice, clean cut so I didn't take her to the doctor. It healed up nicely, but a few months later there was still a lump under the skin and she was still limping on it a bit so I took her to the doc and it turned out that she had some grains of sand that had healed inside the wound . It took an xray and ultrasound to work that out, then she had to see an orthopaedic surgeon and have surgery to remove it and was in plaster for six weeks. made me feel like such a bad mummy for not taking her at the time it happened!
