Oh awesome, thanks everyone! I finished knitting the wee hat hehe but still want more.

Ooh and Angie, will check out that shop tomorrow as going to the ILs for lunch in Jville! Hope they are open in the arvo, otherwise will ask MIL to keep an eye out

I was going to say to knit one, they're so easy (thanks you tube!). Ive made DD and baby a couple of matching hats in the last few weeks, they're really quick to come together

I agree, knit beanies - far more rewarding than buying them!

My mums free pattern is really easy (I'm not very good at knitting myself, but I'm enjoying knitting hats for friends babies)

Just make sure when setting out to knit a pattern - follow it to the letter. Get the right weight/ply/yardage, get the right needles, etc.

It'll get easier each time you make one, and cheaper as you learn more about yarn. But also if you're knitting for a special baby you can use cool organic or unusual colourways from people on etsy

SMS the hat turned out well, although the pom pom (that I thought looked small when it was just wound round the cardboard) turned out almost as big as the hat LOL so will redo that bit bought some more wool from Spotlight this arvo, so gonna make more once DD is in bed. Thanks for the pattern links Mintyfresh!!

Today I just finished one for DD too but it's a bit small for her hehe, used 4ply for that one oops. A pressie for someone at coffee group I think
