Just found out I'm pregnant with number two....not quite expecting it quite so soon, so this time I will have to go back to work sooner and I'm thinking a nanny might be the way to go.

So help?
Anyone got any experiences they want to share?
Can anyone in wellington recommend a place to find one?
I'm finding the idea a bit daunting...DS was looked after by family and that won't be a possibility this time..

Ideally anyone in wellington got an angel nanny that wont be needed in about 12-18 months and will be looking for a job!!

HI HuMum, where abouts in Wellington are you? Have you thought of Porse? Do you live/work far from each other?

Congrats on the pregnancy!!!

Thanks I'm excited DS was a mission to conceive!

Porirua but work in town. I've contemplated porse...honestly life is all a bit up in the air. We are in the process of selling our house!   (guaranteed to get pregnant if you start doing things like that!!)

Porse seems a great option in my opinion, cost, flexibility (if you get the right person) and the fact the porse nanny gets ongoing training too.

Good luck with it all, i'll keep an ear out :)

Hey there, I'm in Wellington (live in Tawa) too and going to be looking at Nanny's. We were recommended Complete Nanny Services by a couple of people - I haven't looked into it yet, but that's where we'll be starting. They have a website: http://www.cnschildcare.co.nz/
They were recommended because some nanny's you need to take care of all the requirements as an 'employer' and apparently CNS take care of all of that (similar to Porse I imagine).

We used Number One Nannies (Barnadoes) and found a lovely nanny. They took care of the payroll as well.

Another company is Homegrown Kids.

Personally I would chat with each nanny service to and find which of them you gel with best and go from there. I think it's as important to get 'warm and fuzzies' from the nanny agency as well as the Nanny as they will be the ones supporting the nanny and visiting her regularly.

Alternatively could go for an Au Pair? More affordable option...

We started with a student Nanny from Wellington Nanny College. They work four out of five days but do need some supervision. The first two we had were great but then we decided to get a live in and that didn't work (they are from out of time and got homesick). We then hired a nanny who had just qualified as a nanny through Nannies Plus (division of the nanny college). Because they have just qualified it is a bit cheaper but they are great. So keen to get there first nanny job.

At the end of the day I think it is the nanny you get rather than the agency as they all have strict guidelines they have to follow. I always checked gumtree. If you found someone from gumtree you could always get them registered through Porse and that both yourself and the nanny have the support of Porse. We have also done this (although didn't find her via Porse)
