This is probably completely normal but i haven't experienced it so thought i would ask anyway.
To start i have an IUD in and have had it for approx 3-4 months. A week after my last AF ended my partner got the chance for a weekend away which of course means BDing. I don;t know why but afterward i got some nasty cramps and pains and started bleeding. I assumed it was something to do with my IUD and the pain and bleeding disappeared after a day or so so i brushed it off. The past week and a half my breasts have been incredibly sore. To the point i can feel something brush against the nipple through a padded bra and top/sweatshirt (and i mean lightly brush). Also been extra tired with dabs of reflux. The past 3-4days I've been starving. No matter what and wake up feeling as if i haven't eaten in days. Typical pregnancy signs for me. I knew i couldn't be pregnant so went on as my body messing with me. AF arrived a couple days late but this is what has me stumped. Its not as heavy as usual but it's not light either. Its also bright pink and lots of cm/mucus. Its normally dark red/brown.
Anyone experienced this? I'm sure its normal but after having regular and typical AF's since i was 12 it took me by surprise.
Thanks

How long after your last af was your weekend away? The iud doesn't stop conception from occurring (though some are hormonally impregnated from what I understand), they stop the egg from implanting in your uterus, (so an ectopic preg is still possible). I would definitely go see a Dr & get some bloods done, you may get referred for an ultrasound, as with any form of contraception it's not 100%. Sorry but your description of bright & mucus-y sounds like what I had with my early mc.

Sorry I just re-read your OP, you said week after af ended, so ignore my question! Definitely go to a Dr though.

Thanks Will go to the Dr tomorrow (she doesn't work today). I have the copper IUD as I'm allergic to anything with the hormone in it. I'm sure it's nothing (that's what I'm telling myself anyway) but i do want to make sure the IUD hasn't slipped.

ETA: if it was a mc i don't think i would want know know/have it confirmed though.

RicKer, best to go get it checked out. I got pregnant with a copper IUD so definitely possible, and I think sperm can live for 3 days or something.

I had the copper IUD and it was horrible (I too am allergic to hormones) I had cramps, sharp pain etc.

and then to top it all off the bloody thing decided to come out at 3am.. I have had a still birth and the pain was almost comprable, it ripped my cervix and tore my vaginal wall on the way down and I had to have a blood transfusion due to the amount lost.

Oh and I also got pregnant on my first copper IUD (when I had still birth) have funny scan of bubs and the IUD in one hahah, I think a couple of other oh baby ladies have had this happen as well.

But I have heard of girls pulling them out themself without any pain so I guess its all about the angle it comes down on.

I would never ever reccomend copper IUDs to anyone.

sorry I should not of given you a horror story, but basically go to your doctor.. if it has slipped then you will want to know to save yourself what happend to me.

AF is back to normal today so might have just been a weird cycle
Will still go to the doc. Breasts are still sore and super hungry but that could be due to AF.

buddyblueeyes - Do you know if you can get the IUD out at any time or do you need a good reason? Since I've only had it in a few months they might want me to keep it longer. When it was put in DP and i were 100% on not wanting any more kids for a few years but now we are both slowly coming around to the idea. I can still feel the string too. Id heard of it moves i wouldn't be able to feel it?

I got my IUD out 6 weeks after I had it put in as it didn't agree with me so time doesn't matter.

Hope it's just nothing.

it could have moved further down and you would still be able to feel the strings, they would be longer tho.

She said from what she can tell it is still okay and in place. She said it might have just move a little but she is pretty stumped so is checking for infection etc. She also insisted i do a pregnancy test no matter how much i told her i wasn't pregnant and i was right, BFN. I know she was just being sure though.

hehehe they tell you to do a pregnancy test even if you haven't BD in like the last year. Its ridiculous.

I hope they find out what is up for you then.
