Topic: Another question... Posted: 08 February 2010 at 11:57am |
The last two days Lexie hasn't been having as much formula per feed as she was last week, I had been feeding her 3 hourly offering 150ml a feed (as per instructions on formula) and she would take anywhere from 110-150ml each feed, the last two days though she has only been taking anything from 70-110ml, should I be worried about this? She shows the hungry signs at the 3 hour mark but then only takes this much? Also meant her sleeping changed last night too, for the past couple of weeks she had been sleeping from around 9-10 through till 4-5am then up for 15 fed and back down until 8-9. Last night she went down about 9:30, last feed being 9:15ish, woke at 2:30 only took about 80ml then woke again 6ish, only took like 40ml and woke at 8 again and only had maybe 80ml.
She slept alot more than she has been yesterday during the day and also seems to be sleepier today aswell, not sure if that is relevant or not though... sorry for all the questions but hey thats why Ohbaby is great!

If she is having lots of wet naps it should be ok , but i guess the real measure is if she has gained weight. Maybe give plunket a call.
Just wanted to say she is soo gorgeous!!

Growth spurt? How old is bubba? And RJ is onto it, if she is still having plenty of wet nappies with a few dirty ones, and looks alert etc you're probably doing just fine.

I did wonder about a growth spurt but how long can they go for cause she was feeding those big amounts for probably a week or maybe more? She has had wet nappies and seems to love to pee once I have her nappy off, and definitely alert so good to know I shouldn't be worried Will start offering 100ml again coz the wastage from 150 is getting too much and I can always top her up more anyway! Thanks Ladies

Maybe it's something in the air (I'm in wgtn too). DS is only finishing one bottle per day. The rest lucky if he'd get through 1/2. And now he's started wanting night feeds again (hasn't for over a month).
I just figured - this too is a phase, and it will pass.
(got that off this forum somewhere and it's become my baby mantra)

Well for her last feed I just waited 4 hours, she was sleeping till 4 hours anyway so it wasn't hard, and she took 100ml so tried another 50 and she polished it off! So gunna see how it goes waiting for 4 hours again, maybe I was misreading her hungry signs?

DS was always a terrible feeder, I was constantly worried about how much he would drink. He was a typical snack feeder/cat napper.
It could be that when she was drinking heaps it was a growth spurt then.
How old is she?

She was 5 weeks on Friday Kellie She is asleep at the moment and it is now 3 hours since her last feed, she seems to be sleeping better during the day since her feeding habits have changed so maybe she just wasn't hungry at the 3 hour mark so wasn't eating as much, Am going to try with the 4 hourly feeds, and that would all tie in with her having a growth spurt I guess, more frequent feeding and not sleeping as much and now that has changed.
