I am looking for presents for DS3 who will be 5 soon.
I was looking at a Tag Reading System.
My main reason for this was I am trying to get my other 2 into more reading so am planning no TV time at night & reading time instead & thought this was a good way to get DS3 into reading.

Has anyone used it & what do you think of it. I have seen them on TM for $80+ not sure how much they are at the shops & the books are near $30 each, so want to make sure it is worth it before investing the $ in to it

My twin DDs are 3 and we have 2 pens and 5 of the books!
We were lucky enough that their Nana got it for them for their xmas / birthday.

I think they're awesome (but am glad I didn't have to fork out the money). The girls are just at the stage of picking out random things on the page and aren't in the least bit interested in listening to the story

E will go through the entire book and listen to all the page numbers

ETA: My friends 4.5yo uses just the pen at night time to listen to stories in bed after the lights are out.

I saw these on a programme called "can we trust the science" where some 'experts" looked at them. They concluded that the children got into reading far more if they were read to by adults. Still, I thought they looked quite fun though!

thanks for your replies. I think I am better off reading with & to him than spend a couple of hundred $ on them...unless the IL's want to fork out on it...which I doubt.

I want all boys to read more & DS2 loves reading so will shut off TV & have a set reading time before bed

right that has saved me some money now to think of what else I can buy him lol
