I wish manufacturers could get their act together with clothing sizes! I have been buying winter pjs for DS, (and sometimes it's just easier not to take him shopping with me!)

Last year he was in size 1, labelled for 84cm height, and the pj trousers measured 44cm. Mum bought some size 1 in a different brand, which are labelled for 80 cm, and the leg measures 47cm! Then in the size 2 I got the leg still measures only 48cm!

I don't mind a bit of variety, but it's frustrating when other people buy things for him which 'should' fit, but don't.

Oh, I know. The worst was when I ordered some Catimini clothes online off NZSale. They were size 1, he was four/five months at the time, and they were too small! He's a big baby, but still!(As my friend said - French babies don't get fat either??)

I agree. DD is 2. Half her wardrobe is size 1 and the rest is size 3.

Ive started trying things on her, hoodies/jackets etc.

It annoys me too- I got some stuff from Farmers the other day- size 2 was way too big so have had to go down to size 1 for winter, when she will be 2.5!

It's starts at birth trying to find clothing in the right size to fit, I've found Kmart to have the best fit of clothes their t-shirts are bigger than PP in the same size.
Farmers Teeny Weeny range fit well on my long skinny baby.

I know ! DD is still in some size 1 pants but is a 3-4-5 in tops depending where from. And she's tall. I second Kmart for clothes they are awesome and cheap.

I try stuff on them now.

Brill i was just pondering this! Crappy stores in my town so order online but the sizes are all mental, for example in PP brand he is in 00 onsies and NB pants and jumpers. I'd love to see the NB that fits some of the pants i got from them, if they are big on my 14lber...

Does anyone know what JK clothes fit like - smaller or bigger then average?

I have a dress and some bloomers from JK in 0-3mth. They're a pretty good fit for my long skinny girl (8 weeks) who still fits NB tops/onesies but not leggings, so I would say they're a smaller fit than most stores, but perfect for us. The 0-3mth PP dresses I have for her are still way too big.

14lb bowie!!! DD just hit 10lb. You must have biceps of steel

JK clothes seem to be okay. I got a whole lot of 1 year stuff that fits pretty well, maybe a bit small. The tops seem to be quite long rather than mega short which is a nice change

I found JK sizing was pretty spot on for DD (for e.g I had a tracksuit made for 6-9m and thats exactly when it fit her, same as the following sizes I bought same tracksuit in)

T&T I have found to be larger fitting in the beginning (so long as baby is short lol DD fit prem stuff for several weeks, but she was only 7lb1oz born, D is starting to grow out of NB length-wise at only 3 weeks old!) but later on they tend to even out, DD is coming up 2 years and is growing out of their size 1 stuff.

PP is comparitively huge, but I *think* their stuff is designed for babies wearing cloth nappies to allow room for those nappies? DD has only JUST started growing out of their 12-18 month pants at 21.5 months old!

Generally I find the sizing pretty good, although sometimes PP sizing is very strange, DS is still in some of their NB pants but in 3-6months for most of there pants. I find JK sizing bad. DS is exactly on the 50th percentile but most JK clothes don't fit him, especially there bodysuits (full leg and no leg). Brought snowbaby ones and they were very large in the body with very short legs, had to send them straight back. There jeans fit him tho.

PP always seems to be good for over/under sizing, IE the twins are nearing 3 and can still fit a PP size 1 in t-shirts. Koby is nearly 1 and can fit the 1 too but it has a lot of room for him.

JK is pretty similar to PP, they can seem to get away with a smaller size for quite a while

I find PP clothing huge! Well, some things. Tshirts are ok and jeans cos they have adjustable waist but their jackets and jumpers are massive. 6-12month size looks silly on my boy..i've always found JK a bit smaller so i've always sized up a bit and fits perfectly. T&T are alright. Pants can be a bit short tho!! I used to like farmers but now not so much. Size 0 pants are too big but 00 are too short. Size 0 everything else is ok. Warehouse size 0/1 tshirts/bodysuits but 0pants. If in doubt I always size up. That way I know he'll fit it one day. Especially when shoppinh online.
Oh with kmart I found a HUGE difference between size 0 and size 1 I only have a few things coz we don't have a kmart but size 0 is getting on the smallish side but size 1 is huge.

Gah, wish I could sew lol i'd make my own clothing

LOL everything is weird on my kids. They have short arms and legs, skinny bodies and massive heads.
Therefore, pants and sleeves get rolled up, I buy what they should fit, ie, DD size one and DS 2 -3. BUt everything has to have buttons on the neck cause they don't fit over there heads.

I second kmart, and Cotton on kids.
But I find nothing properly fits over a cloth bum, except if they're wearing itti's.

In saying this I find adults cloths just the same.

Ive given up buying clothes on line for that very reason. DS is pretty average weight and is on the tall side, but he is still fitting some size 0 shorts, and size 2 tshirts and hes 14 months! The bigger pants just fall down, and the smaller shirts show up his little tummy.

Bessie I hear you - nothing fits my girl. She got skinny arms and body, normal legs and a long back. At 20 months she's in anything from a OO-1 I actually fit PP quite a good fit, but I think that might be because its long in the back.

Hopes - I had the same problem with ordering Catimini gear from NZSale. I bought a cute as outfit for DD when she was only 3 months old but it was a size 1 so she could wear it the summer just been when she was almost 1yo but it was too small for her even at 3 months! OK she was 17lb by that stage so certainly not small but no way was she in size 1 in other brands! I find of all brands, Cotton On Kids are the only brand that are true to size. PP tend to be bigger, which was good when DD was first born as she was 11lb 8oz so was miles too big for NB in other brands but PP was fine on her. Don't think I've had any issues size wise with JK but I tend not to buy much of it cause it's quite expensive for what it is I reckon.
I buy 90% of Isla's clothes at Cotton On Kids now cause it's cheap but decent enough quality, super cute, and it's the right size!
