My not so wee man is running out of room in his capsule and he is not 5 months yet. Any tips what to look for. He is almost 8kgs and is very long. Is it better to go rear facing with a higher weight in a car seat?? If you understand that. Some car seats i see only rear facing 15-18kgs. Can you help!!!

the radian goes to 20kgs and the Brio to 25kg they do however range for around $500-$600.

The radian is very popular as it keeps most children rearfacing to 3-4 years of age.

can get the radian from baby on the move

Yes it is better to get higher weight to rearfacing as that means you can rearface your child longer which is the safest position for them.

The Radian is on special this week at Tweedle. It's a great car seat...you shouldn't need to buy another, has an awesome safety rating and you can rear face until 20kg.
Just make sure it fits in your car first as they take up a fair bit of room rear facing!

If I'd known more about RFing and car seats before I brought our carseat I would have definatly gone for a different one. We got a Safe and Sound Omega I think it is and although it says RFing till 12kgs but you can't use the top straps RFing which means once DD out grows the middle ones height wise (and DD is tiny so won't grow out of it weightwise anytime soon) then we'll have to turn her round.

I recommend the radian too. Much safer to keep them rear facing as long as possible. There are lots of threads in the product reviews section about RF seats if you cant afford the Radian.
