I am a bargain hunter when it comes to any kind of shopping. And because I put on so much weight since having my son, I just felt I couldn't part with money knowing (hoping?) that I was going to lose weight.

Shopping in places like Glassons was not only a waste of time for my size but was terribly depressing.

I hate to say this but I found two places seem to make me feel better. One was K-Mart and the other was some funky 2nd hand clothing stores I found.

I have to try on a huge pile of clothes to find 2 things that might look good on me. There is NO WAY that I would take my son with me - he would start grizzling within one minute. So I would say, go shopping when someone else is looking after your little one. Take everything off the rack that you like the look of that might fit you/suit you and try it all on. Sometimes having a friend there to suggest things - get different sizes and help put clothes back on coat hangers makes it better too.

Oh - and I have to say that three other things made me feel better post-baby:

1) wearing makeup regularly (!) even if it's a splash of thin lizzy and lip gloss
2) wearing feminine clothing and not just comfortable clothing (very easy to do after being pregnant and exhausted all the time)
3) wearing high heels again and not flats all the time

A bit of bling helps too. Helped me to remember I'm not just a mummy but a woman!! :)

My best friend will be very happy to hear that - she was the manager there (now on mat. leave from another Portman's store).

I absolutely love baby shopping and buying stuff for DH when I find stuff, but myself??? There is never anything that I can find even when I know exactly what I want!
nathansmummy - I know what you mean about Glassons. Used to love shopping there but now there is nothing. Until I found some great yoga pants there a couple of months ago that work great as preggy pants...who would have guessed!!! I live in them now and probably will until the end and after.
