I was told $15-$25/hr with an average of around $18-$20.
I've heard of mums getting together and getting one nanny for two kids.
Either way it's not cheap.

Soybasedmama that would be if they kids were coming to you.. if you are getting someone to come into your home to watch your children you will pay nanny rates.... so $15 - $25 experience dependant.

Ah I see, so you probably couldn't bring your kids along with you to someone else's home huh?

SoyBasedMama, I think it depends on the circumstances of the mum which needs babycare. I've got a friend who's got childcare 'issues' (aklnd) and think she'd be happy for a nany type to bring an extra kid along. Just hard to match up the right carer with the right home situation.

I'm not sure of Wellington, but up here in Auckland I paid $18 cash for my first nanny and am currently employing and au pair and we pay her $12 cash an hour. I have looked into employing a Porse nanny and they start at $12.50 per hour.
Hope that helps!

I do in home care and have over 8 years teaching experience and 4 years nanny experience and get $7 and hour. I"m in Welly. The kids are in my home.
I know nannies whos rates vary from $14 p/hr - $25 p/hr but they are in the families home doing the child care, housework, dinners etc.
In home care in Wgtn varies from $4.50 p/hr (barnados I Think) up to about $9 p/hr.
I hope this helps
