Topic: Wedding Photographers or Celebrants? Posted: 15 February 2011 at 10:51am |
Anyone able to recommend wedding photographers or celebrants in the Waikato? Finally got date set for Nov and time to get onto organising things.

I used Sacha Kahaki who is an awesome photographer (though that is reflected in her prices which have gone up in the past 6 years ).
Another local photographers that seem to do good work is Precious Pix
Can't help with a celebrant as I used an old workmate who is based in Northland. All the best with your wedding planning!!

We used Karyn Flett She takes fabulous photos, she is a bit (actually a lot!) more expensive than when we used her 3 yrs ago. It really depends on your budget but IMO you get what you pay for. One thing I would suggest is choosing a photographer that allows you the rights to the photos so you can print them yourself.
Our Celebrant was Roseanne Hannah, she was lovely It really depends on how you want your service to be, i.e informal, formal, religious etc
Good luck!

Ok, so it's not a recommendation, but I'd advise AGAINST using Faith and Adrian Young ( here and here) unless you're comfortable with illegal drug use . They were - I kid you not - smoking dope while photographing my sisters wedding. Not in a subtle way, either - in a "Hmm, what's that smell... oh my goodness!!!" way
In saying that, the photos they took were actually really great.

We used Mainly Weddings (photographer) - he was the best of the ones that fitted into our budget. He did a really good package deal for us, I'd highly recommend him.
We did everything on really short notice (got engaged in October and married in January) so our celebrant was the only one that responded and tbh we couldn't have been happier. She's on River Road in Hamilton. If your interested I can find her name for you - I can't think of it off the top of my head...mama brain.

I can highly recommend Kay Gregory as a celebrant. She did our wedding and has done family funerals in the past. She's just lovely.
Perspectives Photography is another photographer to check out. We didn't use them for our wedding but have used them for professional photography for DH's business so can confirm they're great to work with and we were very happy with the quality. I've seen some of their wedding stuff too - looks great.

I'm a videographer so work with photographers all the time.
Steve May @ One to One Photography is just the bomb! He is awesome, does great work and is a fab guy on the day.
Also Issac & Amber de Reus. Their work is stunning.
Not sure about Celebrants - prob best to meet with a few and choose the one you get on best with and the one that will do the ceremony how you want.
Best of luck
