Topic: Dance class in Auckland Posted: 24 May 2010 at 12:08pm |
Hi,
My 15 month old is mad about dancing. She goes to mainly music one day a week but I would also like to take her along to some kind of dance classes. Does anyone know of any in Auckland? There is wriggle and rhyme through the library but I am at work when that is on.
It doesn't have to be professional dance, just somewhere she can dance with a bunch of other kids

Check out your local YMCA - I know that lots of them run classes like this - our local Y has one that is apparently very good

We've been to Toddler Toes, which was great. Some classes can be quite big though. The advantage is it's casual, so you only pay when you turn up. Not sure if they operate in your area though.

I checked with toddler toes and they thought she might be too young as they need to be a bit more coordinated and understand commands.

Raspberry jam- they said the average age was 3 or 4 with some 2 year olds. You can take them along anytime as they are casual classes and only cost $5.

I took my daughter to Toddler Toes at 2 and there were plenty there her age, even younger. She was just happy doing her own thing to the music!

For over 2s, there is a North-Shore based dance school called Dancespace. They have various classes in Albany and the East Coast Bays. Check out dancespace.co.nz.
I haven't been there as my daughter is too young; found it awhile ago when Googling.

Thanks Jano, It is a bit of a hike, they have them here but the ideal days are full. I know its not the same, but a dvd maybe until she is 2 ?? or you could just take her to toddler toes and let her do her own thing as Kabe suggested
will check out dancespace though for sure, thanks Izzysmum
