sorry, didn't know what else to title this thread,we're having a few issues with liam and changing his nappys. especially poo ones. he doesn't like you to touch his boy bits and especially in between his legs. he doesn't like to open his legs at all and screams and cries the whole time and i don't know what to do... i don't think he's doing it to be naughty because he lies there nicely until you have to open his legs, then he screams. its not red at all, so i don't think he's sore either, and he's no better when anyone else changes him too, so i don't think its an issue with me. is it just a faze or....? and advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've not heard of this but didn't want to read and run. The first thing that popped to mind was, can you put a flannel over his bits as he might be feeling exposed once the air hits?

Physically, I wonder about a hernia in the groin? (I have no medical knowledge ok, just a thought)

Cooper doesn't particularly like it either, maybe we're being a bit rough. Pose the question to your DH? I might ask mine what he reckons.

I haven't heard of this either but it sounds a bit odd and I'd be inclined to talk to a GP about it.

Well I don't have a boy, but my girl was like this, and she toilet trained very soon after so I put it down to her just not wanting to be in nappies anymore (she had already been showing an interest in using the toilet though). Sorry if that's not very helpful!

I would rule out any medical issues first.

I don't recall this problem with my 3 boys, but then you tend to forget some of the difficult stuff, but I do recall having to play games to shift the attention & then get the cream on quick & nappy on.

Its hard to say, could it be the wipes/ are they a bit rough for his skin? or too cold? If he wears pullups or something else you can change standing up...that is if the poo is hard enough & then get him to bend over.

I would be inclined to use a cream at every change in case there is a little cut or something you can not see.

What is he like in the bath, are there any problems there or drying him?

no, no problems with bathing him. DH is just bathing him now and double checking his boy bits in case i missed any swelling or anything.

i don't think its a TT thing, he's showing no interest or signs just yet unfortunately.

thanks everyone, i might give plunketline a call to rule out medical concerns.

My boy was saying ouch to me today, so I'm wondering if it's the wipes. Might go back to cloth wipes & see what he says.

not sure if this will help or not but maybe you could try nappy pants for awhile so you dont have to change him lying down?  This has been so much easier for my little man, he never liked lying still to get his nappy changed so nappy pants have been great!!  A bit tricky with a pooey one but you get there lol!!  Hope you can find something to make it a bit easier for you both
