Topic: How much does your baby kick? Posted: 25 August 2009 at 8:05pm |
Im almost 6 months along and was wondering how much baby kicks you, when and can your partner feel it? and this is my first.
I have been feeling them since around 18 weeks but they dont seem to be getting that much stronger. My husband has only felt them a few times and of course I do worry a bit im sure as long as the little one is kicking it will be fine but just interested to hear what others are going through, throughout their pregnancies!

Is your placenta at the front or at the back? Depending on where it is can affect how much you can and can't feel.
I could feel my boy from 18 weeks. Time of day for movements have changed over the weeks though. Some days he is very active all day. Other days I get nothing until about 10 at night.
I can now watch my belly bounce around when he really gets going.
For awhile, DP couldn't feel the movements with his hands, but instead if he pressed his ear against my belly he could feel lots. Or if I cuddled in behind him, bub would kick him in the back.
So with your DH, get him to try feeling with parts of his body other than his hands.
I'm 24 weeks and bubs new game is "when mums bladder is full...KICK IT!"

Mine has got quite a bit stronger over the last couple of weeks. Still only 1-2 strong kicks a day though. Do you know where your placenta is sitting? Also, I think it depends quite a bit on what direction your baby is facing. My bounty book says baby has chosen a fav position in the uterus by now - it may be that yours has chosen to sit in a way that doesn't make his kick's so obvious? Perhaps talk to your MW if you are concerned

Ive been feeling movement since 11 weeks, of course only very light to start with but now i feel all movement all the time........the only time i dont is when im asleep........i have a very very active baby....i am now 23 weeks and get to watch my tummy jumping and rolling all over the place.........this is very different from my last that i felt from 18 weeks, so can only assume my placenta is sitting at the back this time around
T-Rex my baby has chosen a position of kicking my bladder........but tonights movement was pretty full on so am wondering if it may have changed position.........will be able to tell at next kickboxing session

Hi Again Inlove!
I have been feeling kicks for only about 2 weeks now and don't really feel much other movement except kicks, They have been pretty much consistent in strength since I started getting them except that every so often (like once every couple of days) I will get a really big one that almost makes me jump. Can not feel them on the outside yet and not sure when we will be able to, I'm also first timer but have an anterior (at the front) placenta so that will affect when you can feel it on the outside.

Hi, I didn't feel my bubs kicking a lot at all, my husband only ever felt a few times - I got sent for quite a few scans cause the little monkey wouldn't move. Sometimes a glass of cold water will get bubs a little active in there.

This is my first pregnancy and I first felt flutterings at 16 weeks, my partner has been able to see and feel the kicks since 18 weeks I'm at 22 weeks now. If I'm on the move she seems to go to sleep, but when I'm resting or trying to sleep, she really comes to life, (I could almost swear that it's having a dance party in there), Sometimes she's so active it wakes me up during the night.

Like everyone else said it depends on where baby is and where your placenta is sitting. I could feel Jake by 14 weeks and everyone else could feel him by 16 weeks and I've had this one kicking me for a couple of weeks now but DP can't feel anything yet. Apparently coz my babies sit low down its easier to feel kicking earlier.
I'd check with your midwife and see if she can set your mind at ease
