Topic: Fav book for 18 mth Posted: 12 September 2011 at 7:50pm |
Looking for recommendations for a book for an 18 month old boy? Tom loves books and although we go weekly to the library I am wanting to buy him a couple of new ones.
He enjoys books that have flaps he can open (have several spot books and Dear Zoo) and books that he can touch as well as anything with cars, trucks etc. I would like something with a simple story for me to read at bedtime.
Thanks

DS loves lift the flap type books and touch and feel books. I always stop in to the likes of Whitcoulls and Paper Plus, but they never seem to have those.
The best ones I've got are some I got from Trade Me in bulk. Will look through them tomorrow and write out some titles.
Oh actually a couple of his favourites are the Buster books

You can get some great tractor/digger/plane lift the flap books at Briscoes, of all places!! And ones that beep, too. They are on a stand near the counters usually.

Anything Hairy Maclary is a winner in our house. Anthony has loved them for months and will still bring them to me first at reading time. Also, the wonky donkey book. Both kids love that one. I think it is the rhyming :)

Usborne do a big hard cover touchy-feely book with flaps called 'Animal Hide and Seek' i'd totally recommend it for that age group & its pretty indestructible unlike a lot of flap books. My kids both loved it :-)

Isla likes all sorts of books. She literally has hundreds but her faves would probably have to be Tom Rabbit, Have you got my Purr or Silly Suzy Goose.
There is an awesome book store down here called The Childrens Bookshop. Has the most amazing range of books etc. DD loves going in there. Lots of noisy or touch/feel books and lift the flap books etc. Pretty sure you can order online from them. Worth checking out.

DS's favourite book at that age was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I still know it off by heart.
