Hi everyone!

Well I finally have a midwife, so am really relieved - Kay Daley from Midwives by the Beach. So am using the midwife you used Kelpa!
After ringing around, and not having any success in finding one, my mother-in-law, who is a retired nurse from Tga, said she would phone Kay Daley, whom she used to work with, and hooray she has taken me on! I was beginning to get a bit concerned, as am now 14 weeks pregnant and still hadn't been able to secure one.

If I'd known it would be sooo difficult I would have tried contacting people before my 12 weeks were up, I'll have to bear that in mind for next time around!

Kelpa: What sort of births did you have, having used Kay, just out of interest. Another midwife I spoke to (who was booked up) said that in Tga hosp, they are happy for you to labour in the water, but not so keen on you having the baby in the water, she said that the obstetricians are a bit "old fashioned" in that sense. Has anyone got any opinions/experiences on that?

Hope everyone is doing well.
xx

welcome and congrats, were in tg to. Ive had 2 water births but they were at home, I found it much easier in the water. Our last one was supposed to be a planned water birth in the old tauranga maternity unit, but we got to the hospital to late and the pool couldnt be filled in time (she was born 1/2 hour after we arrived ) My midwife was the same at first - labour in the water but out for the birth and I said to her honestly once Im in there when it gets time to get out theres prob no chance youll get me out, lol. Shes was ok with that and I will be trying for a waterbirth at the new mat unit (due nov) so Ill let ya know how it goes. (the key will be getting to the hospital in time for the pool to be filled he he he)
