I don't have any ideas - but I do know we're planning a bash for our 10th wedding anniversary, it seems like a good chance to have one. So I'd say if you want to do something, go for it

yeah i want to take the time to recommit to each other, to reaffirm our love for each other and also for it to be in recognition for what we have been through and overcome. i am thinking of a small and intimate occasion with our 3 kids, family and possibly close friends. i am alos thinking about asking someone to do a small 1 tier cake for us as well as someone from church to take some photos. i think my mum thinks its a bit 'american' and may be going over the top. not sure

I think it's an awesome idea! We've been together 10 years but married for 4, I can't wait to get to 10 years married so we can renew our vows I think if you are keen then go for it!

thanks, just had a chat to hubby, he wondered about having a celebration where we invite quite a few people and ask them to bring a plate of food, we provide drinks perhaps, and then as part of the celebration we make a toast kinda thing and thank people for coming and then just say nice things to each other in a vow renewal way. ohh so confused now!

Could you do both? Just you and your close family for the vow renewal and have photos, then a celebration/party later on with friends and cake etc? And have someone take photos of that too?

I think it's a beautiful idea. Who cares if it's a bit 'American'? It's about you, your DH and your relationship, you can do it however you like

DH & I are planning on finally having a honeymoon for our 10th anniversary, and I've been thinking about renewing our vows too ... haven't discussed it with him yet though

that sounds nice, we lived in christchurch at the time we got married and 'honeymooned' in the bay of islands but we did too much tourist stuff and the pill i was on made me feel ill, so wasn't the best time.

My latest train of thought with this whole idea is to now maybe just go away for a few nights (which we are wanting to do anyway) and then renew our vows just to each other in front of each other on the actual day.

I suppose there are unlimited options.

We have had hard times and I want to celebrate the fact that we are still in love and still committed to each other.

we have just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last month. we were also thinking of renewing our vows but decied to go away for the weekend together. I think it's agreat idea and still lkeen to do it but may do it now at 15 or 20 years. My mum and dad renewed their vows in the church they married in on their 35th wedding anniverary. so romantic and shows real committmnet to your relationship and each other. Also DH brought me a ring! to mark the occassion. We also celebrated as a family as i want my children to know being married is important and valued to us.

congratulations in 10 years!

wow that is special about your parents.

im hoping to get a ring too

I agree about celebrating it as a family as we also want our 3 kids to know and understand what it means to be married and committed to each other.

so many options, just want to make the right choice.

Go for it

We are planning on doing the same, but just privately. That's just me, I don't feel the need to do it publicly but would like to do it in a nice location, all dressed up with the kids around, to have some time to reflect on the last 10 years (still 5 years marriage away!).

We are planning on heading to a tropical island, or maybe even go back to Thailand and redo our honeymoon. Better start saving.

Yep we're so going to do this, I'm really looking forward to it!

We've had a lot of downs in the last 8 years plus the ups but we want to celebrate what we've been through & what's to come.

I really want to go to a pacific island & get it done on a beach. Will be good timing too as one of the kids will be cheap cause of being under 2 lol

We'll let everyone know well in advance what we are going to do so they can come. So hopefully they will

I say go for it

My DH managed to renew ours by himself
He was overseas for work and did a trip trough Israel. When he was on a holy land tour they were at the church in Cana and they do marriage renewals. We have a certificate signed by two priests which says that we renewed our vows in their presence - it names me
Not sure which one of his army mates stood in for me

We had thought about doing the 10 year thing but that whizzed by with a young baby so maybe 15 or 20yrs.

We are planning on renewing our Wedding Vows..or getting married again. We were looking at doing it at our 10th but now are looking at doing it at 12.5 yrs. The Dutch celebrate 12.5 yrs of marriage & since DH is Dutch we will probably do this also. Not planning on having a big party, more just family & not sure if we will do it at the same church or in gardens... But will have fun planning it.

Our 11th is in 2 weeks so we are looking at May 2013.

I say go for & its not just an American thing as it is done all around the world for yrs

10 years of marriage is worthy of being celebrated in my opinion.

I say go for it! I dont think its american I think it is a personal choice.

we are planning to renew ours for our 10yr annv, for our actualy wedding we had cheap make do rings which 2yrs later are both unlost and undamaged but we would like to get something abit nicer one day but i see no value in new rings with out the vows etc. Im the type that only wears jewlery if it has a special meaning. our current rings are both engraved and we will get the same engravement on our new rings. but that is 8yrs away lol.
