It is definitely cheap childcare! We spent 1000/mth on DS's daycare before DD was born, fulltime now with his free hours it would be 1700/month for both but we've kept them part time as I'm doing contract work and not taking on extra hours til DS gets to school.

At least being a fill primary we don't have any issues with after school care if we need it (15/day each), and by the time they both get to high school DS will be old enough to watch DD after school if necessary.
DS (5yrs) and DD (3yrs)

we have 2 in school but we only pay for ds2 as ds1 is under orrs funding as he is at special needs school he goes on taxi whixh is all covered, i just sort out uniform but i havent had to buy any of it. he does holiday program but that is also funded
he is in keas which is $40 a term.

ds1 school fee's are $64 a yr
we dont do after school care or holiday programs.
his uniform is just school T-shirt x3, sweatshirt, Hat and any black pants. that costed me $175.

I find making sure there is food suitible for lunch boxes the hardest part, I do a big shop every week and usually have to buy more before the weekend, need a padlocked box to stop them eating the snacks lol.

ds2 buys his lunch once a week which is only $3.
just had a school trip which was $8.

ds3 starts school when ds2 is 7 so I wont have to buy extra uniforms just bigger sizes for ds2 and the school fees cost less with each child.

If you are paying for full time daycare then having them at school will be way cheaper although before and after school and holiday programs will offset some of those savings.

I've got one in full time daycare and one at high school. The cheapest time was primary school followed by high school followed by full time daycare.
