Olivia has always been a name that I loved even as a girl, so when we discussed names I said I "wanted" it(DH said if its a girl I have naming rights)

Her name does have very special meaning though as my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Oliver (my dad and brother's middle name) and I am named after her (Simone)but didn't want baby named after me, her middle name - Loren, is from my mum mum's (Laurette) but I didn't want to spelt the traditional way (Lauren - much to my mothers disgust)So she is Olivia Loren, although DH often says he actually forgets that she has a middle name.

We kept her a "surprise", so had a boy and girl name. Boys name would have been after DH (his dad and granddad's name - very traditional) DH really like Eliose (I like it too), but on day of birth after SnS we were driving back home and I said so if it is a girl its Olivia right and he agreed.

Even after she was born I double checked that he was happy with Olivia (before letting family know) as I knew it was a "popular" name - but yup still all go.And even after 2 years of popularity I am yet to come across another Liv where we live.

Olivia

First name: Evie was a name we heard on a movie (Driving Lessons) and one of my favourite songs is "Eve, the Apple of My Eye" by Bell X1. And we couldn't decide on any other names that we liked. Oh! Other than Natalie, but we know someone who's a bit weird and that kind of put us off it. And luckily it's a ridiculously cute name, not OVERLY common, and wasn't on the NZ Top 100 list!

Middle name: Mary after my maternal Grandma.

Middle name: Jean after my paternal Grandma.

I feel a little guilty as DH doesn't have any family names in there, but he said he wasn't too keen on the names in his family. And we only planning on having the one baby, so no other babies need naming!

samuel - was going to be samuel or Mitchell. samuel was a name written on a old piece of paper in my baby book. assumed it was the name i would have been called if i was a boy. i was wrong i was going to be named curtis funnily enough my hubby is kurt.

Rory - was that or Zachery. I got it of '8 simple rules' i pictured my son being just like the rory from that program. actually considered using name for either gender.

Mason - or Logan. i did the random openning of the baby name book and landed on mason, at 1st i was like nope, then a week later i was randomly thinking of names and mason came back to me. didnt know he was a boy at that point. went into scan with mason or logan for a boy and Hannah for a girl. came out completely in love with my Mason.

Emmett - I had a few names for him. at some point his name was Bayden, then Joshua, Wyatt, but once he became Emmett that was it, got it from a book character again picturing my son being just like the character. i liked that it wasnt a common name but also not a weird name.

we have our naxt baby's name picked its a very unisex name so will be the same name regardless. not sharing though lol
Mummy to 4 boys
Samuel - 18.6.05
Rory - 15.7.06
Mason - 13.06.08
Emmett - 24.01.10

We got Harriet from looking in baby books and online - I thought it sounded like a strong female name, it was uncommon and I like the shortening of Harry

Her middle name is Ardina - which is her great, great grandmothers maiden name (on DH's side). Her married name was Clarke and thus her Spanish/gypsy name was usurped.

We have decided to have the tradition that all children we are lucky enough to have are given female maiden names as their middle names. As lets face it, often women's last names don't get past down, but male names do.

You and I must be kindred spirits
Also, I was given a Cabbage Patch Kid when I was a kid - his name is Rory
