hi all

I am trying to get my 9 month olf daughter onto bottle feeding. She takes a bottle and sippy cup and will take the formula but will only take small amounts! She is supposed to have 250ml at a feed and I will be lucky if she takes 100ml!!!! How do I get her take more??? I tried giving her a bottle first thing this morning when she is the hungriest but wouldn't have a bar of it. Took none no I relented and gave her breast....Have mainly been trying at the afternoon feed....any suggestions to get her to take more would be most appreciated

Are you trying to wean her, or just to take the occasional bottle?

My DS has a bottle feed at lunch time 3 days a week when I'm at work (since he was 7 months old). He is not a big fan of the bottle either and very rarely drinks more than 100ml at at time (EBM)

I go by the theory that if he's happy enough with that amount, and is eating a good amount of solids too, then he'll be fine. He just makes up for it with the evening feed when I get home.

Sorry - that's probably not that much help - but I figure you can't really force them to drink more than they want to!

have you tried her with a bottle before? Cos I think most babies need to have had a bottle a couple of times before they are 6 weeks old so they know what it is. Otherwise it may not work.

What does she do with the sippy cup? Exactly the same or happier to drink out of it?

Hi and thank you for your replies....

The reason for needing her to take the cup is that my milk is drying up so have decided it is time to stop as I don't think I am giving her what she needs and after all I guess I have breast fed her exclusively up until now and thats a pretty good stint!

Talip....yip she she is more than happy to take the cup....just need to get her take more volume. Yesterday she took about 150ml for one feed so maybe this is just gonna take time   She just knows what she likes which i suppode is fair enough
