....Poor old Clodagh has a bad cough which I think is part of this cold we both have. I also have the cough but it's more distressing for her I'm sure!

The Dr seems to think it's just viral so not much we can do but wait it out, however I wondered if any of you guys had any ideas on what we could give her (preferably non medicinal) to help soothe it?

Right now I'm putting drops of eucalyptus and lavendar in a bowl of water at night in her nursery so that the heat of the heater sets off their scents... sometimes I put a little Tui cold balm on her chest.....anything else??

She's eating well and apart from being a bit grizzly (teething too...sigh), she just looks poorly rather than acting overly so.

Any tips on how we best help her deal with this gratefully recieved...we're off on hols tomorrow and taking a flight so a bit worried about that too. I guess I can just BF during take off and landing to stop any ear pain?

You could try a lemon and honey drink, but she may not like it.

Other than that there really isnt anything you can give them under 2 :(
Isabella had a nasty cough a few months ago lost her voice and all, I took her to the dr 3 times over 3 days and got told the same thing, its viral She looked so awful, was not a happy wee girl.

I hope shes feeling better soon *hugs*

Just to note that sometimes viruses can turn bacterial so if her mucous becomes yellow/green take her back to the Dr

Put the oils or vicks in the crock pot in her room at night. Dry air makes them cough more. Just need to air her room out when shes awake.

nathansmummy is right, thats why I kept taking Bella back as I wanted to make sure as she seemed to be getting worse not better, but it was still viral, no yellow nasties, just a lot of coughing and no voice.

We borrowed a vapouriser from a friend to put in her room at night, that did wonders.

Also we kept taking her back to the Dr every couple of weeks, they never really said anything about it, until last time when her ears were a bit red and her glands up a litlte they prescribed amoxycillan, I know you said no medicine but her cough has since disappeared after the antibiotics.

Hope you guys get better soon.

Be careful about the honey cough mixture someone mentioned - I know Clodagh is now over 1yo but I dunno that botchalism (sp?) thing is a bit scary...
