Delli DS has started waking at 5am lately I'm assuming due to his teeth - I just pull him into bed for a sleep and a cuddle with me - can you do that or is he too old now?

Wow what an interesting thread alright! My DD stopped waking in the night at 8 weeks. I thought that was relatively normal so just went along with it but can see from this that babies are doing all sorts of different things! I never minded the night feeds and cuddles. Am a bit envious!

Interesting They're all so different!

I actually don't mind the night feeds, and I do think that your body adjusts to much less sleep (no way would I have survived on this amount of sleep pre baby! ) I'm thinking I might just follow his lead for now.

Emmecat, he starts off in the cot but if I'm up to him for a second time I just bring him into our bed and he sleeps much better. Usually

Yeah I don't mind the night feeds and I reckon I am more tired now that it is not every night...how does that work. I love those middle of the night cuddles and we even talk to each other -doesn't seem to affect his ability to go back to sleep at all so I love it. Sometimes I miss him and sneak in to look at him if I wake up haha!

I used to think 'oh when is he going to sleep through, am I doing something wrong' as it seemed people expected babies to sleep through at 2-3 months but he only started when he was 5 months and actually he does really well since he doesn't even wake up for a dream feed after bedtime at 6pm so now I don't worry and just go with how he wants it to be...figure the nights he wakes are made up for on the nights he sleeps 12 hours straight!!

Of course it might not be the same for everyone if baby doesn't sleep that well, and I can sure understand why you would want to night wean!

TaliP I still think 'oh when is he going to sleep through, am I doing something wrong'!!!!!!

My DS is 5 and a half months, just started on solids. He did a week here and there sleeping through the night when he was younger, but hasn't done it for about 2 months now. And for ages he was waking once between 1-5am for a feed, which was fine. But now he is waking between 11pm and midnight and AGAIN at 4-5am!!!!

I am sooooooooooo tired, and not sure what to do because if he feeds at 4-5am he won't feed well in the morning. Mind you, last night he only woke once but then still only took one side this morning! I just don't get him

I always said I would night wean when he was fully established on solids, but that is MILES away! I really hope he does it of his own accord because I really don't want to use CIO. However I think that is the only thing that will work with him, as going in just gets him more worked up, as does offering the dummy/water etc...
