im sure ive heard somewhere (though it could be my imagination) that burwood hospital offers swimming for pregnant women. Is this correct? Could anyone give me any info? I am planning of birthing at burwood and its just round the corner from us atm so was thinking if they do swimming it would be a good break for me from henry and good exercise as well. And since im such an anxious person it would be good to become familiar with the place im plan to birth. Thanks in advance

I think they do. If you ring the hospital they will put you through to someone who will be able to help.

I think its only $2 as well - which is a bargain and its heated! I am sure they only have it at certain times though as it is used by the hospital for spinal, head injury patients and their recovery.

So am no help but I am sure they do so I say ring them.

P.S my week/weekend turned to custard so I ended up posting the things to you. Hope they arrive!

When I was pregnant with Tom I did that. It was either $2 or $4 (2 I think) and free if you were birthing at burwood. Wednesdays was the day I think but there may have been another day. It is in the hydrotherapy pool so about 35 degrees and just heavenly!!!! The "exercises" are so gentle that I couldnt tell when the warm up ended and the actual exercises began. Then they follow it up with a relaxation time where you use noodles to float and chill out.....bliss. It is so nice to feel weightless ...but horrible to get back out of the water LOL.

give them a call. It is SO WORTH IT!!!!

Yup it's Wednesdays and Fridays from 11-12. I've been a couple times recently but I decided I'd rather sleep 'til noon!!
Though if bubs hasn't made an appearance before next weeks session I might go...

The antenatal swimming at Burwood is awesome - although it really isn't 'swimming' - more like walking around the heavenly warm water chatting to all the other ladies!

I have made some really good friends from the ladies who went swimming when I did - we started a facebook group and catch up for coffee/play group regularly!

I can't wait to start again in a few months!

(And yes, it was $2 and you're in the water for about 45 mins) - make sure you get there early though (10.45) cos somedays we were there they were about to turn people away as we had almost 30 mum to be's in the pool!

I am so going to this as DS will still be in DC on Wed and Fridays - any day less crowded than others?

Will start when I finish work so will be around 32 weeks and def wanting some weight off my poor feet!

Both classes are pretty much the same each day - you start to get the 'regulars' who are due around the same time as you towards the end of your pregnancy as lots of people have begun maternity leave!

I loved it! Unfortunately I only got to go twice, cause when my maternity leave finally started they closed the pool for a month for cleaning .

It is so worth it.
Enjoy!
