Topic: Is your baby sensitive to noise? Posted: 08 September 2010 at 1:35pm |
I have no idea whether my 4 month old DS wakes up from his day sleeps when I make noise near his room. When he was little, we slept him in the lounge and he would sleep through anything but now that he's older I'm not so sure. I know I'm paranoid, but I'm too scared to do work in the office next to his bedroom just in case I wake him up. I have gone in there a couple of times and he has woken but maybe that was just a coincidence?!?!?
I play white noise in his room so that it's not super quiet in there.
What about your little ones - do they wake when you make noise near their bedroom during the day or can they sleep through anything?

Lily slept through anything but now the slightest noise wakes her however if I make a really loud noise she'll sleep through - go figure lmao! Anyway depending sometimes she'll stir and go back to sleep other times she doesn't but I always wait about 5-10mins to see. Unless she cries hysterically straight away. Hth.

Sounds just like Jake.. he was slept in the lounge during the day and had plenty of noise but he is a very light sleeper and wakes at the slightest noise.
He is getting a bit better now, but up until recently we couldnt even flush the loo at night or he would wake and then it would take us over an hour to get him back down again

DD is sensitive to noise during they day, just have to walk down the hallway and she'll stir. But then she sleeps in the pram at DC in the playroom with all the other babies and toddlers without a problem! Weird. Not sensitive at all during the night though, she's out to it,......could do just about anything in her room and she won't stir.

Jaxnz1 - that sounds like our DS in terms of walking down the hallway. I think I might have to move the stuff I use in the office downstairs so that I don't have to risk waking him!

Buy a white CD and put it on repeat in Bub's room. Blocks out the local fire alarm here.

I thought it was just my DS who was sensitive to footsteps in the hallway! He sleeps through the bin trucks, Wellington gales, cats miaowing outside his room but he can't cope with creaky floorboards! Weird baby

both my kids wake up but i just keep making noise and they go back to sleep unless it is actually time to get up and they feel refreshed. they seem to know the difference. if they stir and dont settle then i will get them up but if they woke and are still tired they fall asleep again on their own. i refuse to have to tip toe round my own house in case i wake the kids up so i guess im really lucky that they can get back to sleep. worst comes to worse i get them out of bed and they are up earlier than expected

I really like your philosophy monikah, I might try and implement that - although it is a bit scary?! If he wakes up earlier than normal it kinda throws my whole day out - eeck :)

my youngest only sleep 40-60 mins at a time anyway. i dont have a plan to my day. as long as all my uni work is up to date, house is clean, food is cooked, nappies are washed by the end of the day then all good
