sometimes car is practical, sumtimes pram, sumtimes scooter, it depends imo how far you are going, how many other children you are "kidwrangling", and if they behave / runners etc.

Id think it a bit hilarious to see a 5 year old in school uniform in a pram, (unless they are not able bodied) but under 5 for sure, although i prefer miss4 to scooter or ride her bike, or walk if shopping in town, but then i have a baby in pram to push

DS1 is nearly 2.5 and he is a runner - I wouldn't even consider going out my front gate unless he was strapped in a pram!! Particularly if I have DS2 with me (newborn) so I can't just run after DS1. I don't see that situation changing anytime soon.

I think if they are happy to sit in a pram then thats fine.

My limit would be about 4 yrs though. DD isnt in a pram anymore but she is a runner and it would be easier if i could get her in one.

I haven't read all the posts yet, but I think it's pretty normal for toddlers to still be using prams until maybe 4-4 1/2 yrs old.

I can't remember how long DD1 used a stroller for. I do remember she was still using it when she started Kindy.

As for DD2, she is 2 yrs old and still gets put in the pram. As personally, she likes to run, run, run away! Though sometimes I give her the freedom to walk...which often ends up in me chasing her, a lot! I do also like to go on long walks which requires having her strapped in to a buggy, but more for her safety.

I have no idea when I plan to stop using the pram. But MB do make them to suit older ages, which helps.

I do try the good old harness on occasion and that is sometimes ok and sometimes a drama.

So I don't really have an opinion. But this is what I do or have practiced.

DD (nearly 4) sits in the pram if we are going for a long walk, but most of the time she wants to walk.
I think by the time they go to school then they shouldn't be using the pram anymore.

I missed the original post though but gather its something about being overseas, if we were overseas i would probalby put DD in the pram to keep her safe esp if it was a very busy place.
