I need some advice please. I am having trouble with Ben's naps and getting them to fit around Jack's kindy.

If Ben is to have 1 nap during the day then it seems to need to be at around 10.30/11am and he is ready for bed at about 7pm

But this doesn't work 4 days a week as 3 days I have to pick Jack up from kindy at 11.45 and the 4th morning we are all at Playcentre.
So on these days I put Ben down for 2 naps, one about 9.30am (this morning he has been asleep since about 9.30am so 1.5hrs so far) and then take the boys for a walk early to mid afternoon for Ben's 2nd nap. However it means that he doesn't go down to sleep till about 8pm which eats into my evenings - selfish mummy I know but it is the only time I have to do certain jobs that require no assistance from little boys.

I have tried holding Ben out until after kindy pickup but he is so overtired by then and is really hard to get to sleep and the last few times I tried he only slept 45mins

The 2 naps days are good in the morning (like now!) but the afternoon nap is a struggle without going for a walk and bedtime is late. So what do I do? Do I have to keep going like this until he can handle 1 nap after kindy? Any other solutions? Will he ever be ok with an afternoon nap or are some kids morning nappers? So many questions.....

Could you perhaps arrange with someone at your kindy to do the pick for you if you do the drop off. I know this is what my friend does. It might take a bit of asking around but could be the way to go.

I dont think there is an easy fix for that. If it were me I'd be trying to get a nap in straight after kindy. May take him a little bit to get use to it though

Its one thing I love about daycare over kindy is that I can adjust his hours to suit me/alex

I can see how that would be a problem, I don't know how parents with two kids manage these kinds of things. But I think that the time of year will work in your favour. Can you work on strecthing him slowly during the kindy holidays as he should be able to last up till 12 at 19 months when it goes back next year? say 10 -15 mins a week?

Am planning to do this myself as we have a fire alarm across the street that goes of at midday, which makes sleep tricky (currently play white noise CD, but want to ditch it).

I was about to suggest the same as millymollymandy - ride it out as best you can for the last few days and then use the holidays to gradually move Ben's sleep.

Sophie has a big sleep during the day and when she moved from 2 to 1 it took a couple f weeks to sort it but now she has one super nap from 1 to 3.30

Yeah I think I will just ride it out as next week is the last week for kindy, although Jack's only closes for 4wks.
First I hadn't really thought about sharing pick up/drop off as I don't have room in my car. However a friend of Jack's will be at kindy 2 days a week with him next year and they are only 5min walk away so he may be able to go home with them for an hour or so until Ben wakes up
