Topic: Feeling babies first movements Posted: 13 May 2009 at 6:31pm |
What does this feel like and when did you feel it. this is my first pregnancy and I had a MW apt today. I am 11 wks, and she I could feel movement at around 16-17 wks. She said it would feel like passing of wind. They didn't do a scan just a scan on top of tummy thing which was trying to find the heart beat. Couldn't find one but was told it is too early and normally at 12 weeks you can hear heart beat. As Uterus hasn't fully popped out yet. I have seen heart beat at 7 and 9 week scan so that was some reassurance. However we did hear the baby kick me - very funny sound!
Tonight I had this feeling just below tummy lbutton ike a passing wind feeling. Am wondering if this could be a movement or just my wild imagination????

I wouldn't think so, although anything is possible.
The top of the fundus would only be about level with your pelvis at the moment, so if you were to feel movement, it would be right down low.
I started feeling movement with Sam at around 15 - 16 weeks, just light fluttery movement and then at around 20 weeks, actual kicks.
I haven't felt this one move yet, although for some reason since my c-section, I have been able to feel heaps of gas bubbles moving around in there!

with C I first felt her move around 20 weeks, it felt like little tiny butterflies, then later on it felt like someone tugging gently on a fishing line, then it was big kicks that you could see
with T I first felt him around 11 weeks, butterfly movements at first, then a week later the gentle tugging , which lasted til about 16 weeks , then was more definite kicks (tho not felt from the outside til 20 or so weeks )

I had the butterfly feeling from about 15 weeks. And then nudging and soft kicks around 17/18 weeks. Now at 24 weeks they are starting to get stronger but are still pretty soft.

I felt what I thought was my pelvis contracting at about 23weeks then realised it was baby kicking me downwards which makes sense. It all depends where your placenta is as well, as mine is at the front so I don't really feel much just movements and can kinda see my stomach jump about when I'm still enough or if my arm is resting against the side i will feel a push out to the side when baby is wriggling round.

I think that anything is possible. I started feeling things at about 9 weeks, bubbles and vibrations. Now it has moved to nudges and the other night, it was definitely a kick! This baby doesn't stay still for long.
With DD1, I started feeling things about where you are at in your pregnancy.
You will probably feel things a bit lower than your tummy button, concentrate on the area just above your pelvis.
