    Posted: 11 May 2009 at 4:42pm

I am currently looking to get one of these to record any thoughts/feelings/important bits and pieces as a bit of a keepsake.

Are they worth getting or did you find them a waste of time/money?

Has anyone got any recommendations for a good one?

I bought one here called "the making of me" - it's printed in Singapore (so not so relevant in NZ) but I thought it was great coz it has all sorts of local old wives tales and chinese/malay beliefs about pregnancy and the first few months and who know where in the world we'll be when #2 is on its way. Other than that, there was a short blurb at the beginning of each trimester and then a page per week to write thoughts, measurements etc and a couple of pages per tri for bump phots and ultrasound pics. There was space at the back for your birth story (and Dads perspective) which was great as I wrote notes while I was in hospital which definitely helped me remember it all once I was home

I think you can do any of that in a plain notebook if you don't want to spend $$ on something specific. I'm sure other ppl have other ideas for what to put in there too, if you want it to be a keepsake

Hey There, I got one and I'm glad I have it although I do have to remind myself to keep updating it..
You can get ones that are quite big and detailed, mine just has the basics in it though. It's an Anne Geddes one.

I just have a plain lined notebook. Did the same with DD and it worked well that time too.

I had a baby record book , and a notebook , the note book was more for me , to write my experiences of being pregnant .
Reading over it now is always a laugh, common entries are
" i want this baby to hurry up and come "
and "my back hurts "
also , she will be over due, she will be born on the 8th (which she was incidentally )

That was with Caitlyn , I haven't done the same this time around

I used a normal note book and wrote in it about my pregnancies - i did it for my last two and I so wished I did it for my eldest as well (although had a diary for the days I was in hospital with him just born)

I love reading over it - espec when I was pregnant with last one would refer to other one. And I did not stop at when baby was born I wrote in it afterwards and although for DD 11 I don't write in hers now (although i should) DS 2 I still pop things in there now and then.

I stuck pictures of me preggy and scan photos - wrote about 'it's' mum and dad and siblings - wrote about what star sign it was going to be and all those silly things that you think are erelient (sp) but are so cool looking through now.

soafter my huge speel - I would recommend it

I couldn't find one I liked and am now thinking that there is so much time passed and bits missed that it's probably not much point starting one now. I've decided that I will just buy a really good photo album and myself, DP and Grandparents can just write something special in the front of that.

I have just used OhBaby as my journal and am now going back and creating a printed journal that I will bind and place in the kids keepsake boxes.

Thanks ladies. I think I do need something with some prompts to give me a bit of inspiration. Will keep a look out for something.

I just have a standard lined notebook to journal in, I love it. I also do like to refer to my old ones at times, especially when I'm feeling down - or wondering if I felt this way when my last baby was this age, etc.

I have a standard book that I have had for years.

I am planning (planning mind you who knows how long it will last) to write in it at least once a year on their birthday and give it to them for their 21st along with hopefully the bank account we will start for bubba when they're here

Kikki K have a stunning range of baby books:

They are only in Auckland and Lower Hutt though, but you can probably order online.

I used a plain notebook with self-written prompts - mostly came from what I was reading or from Creating Keepsakes (a scrapbooking mag, you can probably find suitable lists on their website). The big three are looking thru theirs now as we are expecting #4 and having a laugh.
I also found it very useful to have one handy for when I went into the hospital.
