DS has come up with a real bad rash all over his body, it started as what looked like flea bites on his lower leg, and then gradually spread and now its everywhere! He's got a really runny nose and doc said it was what looked like a viral rash and nothing much I could do about it, it doesnt seem to be bothering him, he doesnt have a temp, has been eating and drinking like normal, and apart from having 2 naps instead of 1 (due to a restless night with a stuffy nose) hes pretty much himself. Prior to the rash we went to the docs and he said he had tonsilitis and prescribed him amoxycillin (so I at first thought an allergic reaction which the doc doesnt think) it just looks so bad, anyone know how long they last, and anything i can do?

My daughter has one every second week or so and it can last for a whole week depending on what the virus is.  Sometimes it comes with a temp or a snotty nose etc etc but sometimes is just on its own.  At its worst it is all over her body and sometimes with quite noticeable larger red marks.  There is nothing you can do and if it is viral then it will just go as the virus does.  It's great that he's not bothered by it - my daughter never seems to be either and it has happened on such a regular basis for us that apart from noticing its presence I don't think about it much.

A couple of weeks ago my son had a rash on his body, the doc said it was a viral rash.
DS was fine with it, the night before it came up he sleep 12hrs (wow!!) obviously body was fighting it.
The next night he was unsettled and we gave him some pamol. But during the day he was happy as!
All up the rash was visible for 5 days. We stayed away from others during this time, just in case. (was worried it was measles)
Hopefully your little one is ok, and not too bothered by it.

so after all that turns out its a delayed reaction to the amoxycillin he was on recently! have to stay away from that in future!

My DS had a rash a few weeks ago too... aparently it was Slapped Cheek/Fifth Disease, which comes with mild cold symptoms too. but it got worse before it got better. and ended up all over his body!
I thought it might have been measles/chicken pox etc, but it just went away.

My first thought was Roseola as this is often misdiagnosed as tonsilitis as the throat is usually inflammed but it does come with shocking high temps that break with then rash arrives (Jakes rash arrived at the GP's, the nurse, dr and I all watched it wash over his body was quite amazing to see) BUT then I read your last post!

I grew out of my amoxycillin allergy...
