I have one blocked tube and one clear tube, but the only treatment I am being offered is IVF. I would have thought IVF would be the very final option.

To make matters worse, I can't go on the IVF waiting list for another year and then there is a year's wait. Do you think they should have offered fertility drugs, if there is still a chance I could get pregnant on my own (but haven't after two years of trying)? Two years is quite a wait, especially considering I turn 37 in July.

The specialist said I could have a laproscopy, but if my functioning tube is fine (which the HSG xray indicated) this could push my wait for IVF out to 3 or 4 years. Would you take the gamble and have it done?

I am probably going to go for a second opinion at a different and unrelated specialist.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Hopeful,

as you know I have one blocked tube and one open, I OV everymonth and have been TTC like you for over 2 years.
I was on clomid for 4 cycles and then got a HSG to check and low and behold one tube was blocked the next step for me was LAP to check for endo and the cause of the blocked tube. I asked my FS if I should carry on the clomid while I wait for my LAP and she said there is no point! After my LAP I will be scored for IVF to see if I can get on the list. She also said IUI would not be an option as the stats are too low

Why will the LAP push your wait time to 3 - 4 years...is this because you will fall under the unexplained category if they fix your blocked tube?

Do you have any other infertility problems except for the "bung" tube?

another question will be is this course of action taken because of your age?

If I was you I would ring them and ask if you can go on clomid to see if that works in the mean time, it cant hurt to try right!

TTC for 4 1/2 years
IVF #1 - April 2012 short BFP, no frosties
IVF #2 - August 2012, BFP!! 3 frosties!
