Me again. Not sure whether to ask this in this forum or maybe the preggy one?

Has anyone been prescribed contraceptive pill after miscarriage? If your hormones have not gone back to 'normal'? Prolonged bleeding?

I'm jumping the gun maybe, I haven't had this prescribed yet (I like to preempt these things ahead of time!), but am seeing hospital in about 3 weeks and I think they might bring this up.

I'm really wary about it . . . I want to be ttc NOT taking pills to prevent conception! I need to move forward and get ttc again . . . I know this from previous mc's and that this is what I need to do to move on.
I also feel that there is some hormone weirdness going on and has been for maybe the last 2 years. I'm concerned about oestrogen excess (well, something affecting luteal phase too) and bcp is massive for this isn't it?
I also don't know it this is me completely not understanding how things work, but if somethings messed up, throwing more at it . . . how can that regulate it? Like if someone is an overeater, is the issue solved by giving them more food. More alcohol to an alcoholic? Whitakers slab to a diabetic? I know, slightly different situations, just my hippy sense of 'balance'.

Then again, what other ways are there to sort this out (I know about B6 and Vitex already)?

Anyone? Thoughts/ideas/opinions? been there, done this, did it work?

I have heard about doing this before Spanky, I think the theory is it kind of kicks things back into a normalish pattern, also I guess for you it would be nice not to be bleeding for longer than a couple of days.
Personally I would be wary about doing this too and completely agree with your reasons why. So really probably I'm not much help.
Have you thought of seeing a naturopath? Could be good to see one and see if this can be sorted out naturally first that way in 3 weeks when you have your appointment you can at least have some idea about whether this is going to be able to be sorted naturally or if you are going to have to seriously consider the drug route.

Not too sure on your background but.....I had prolonged bleeding after a d&c - I was still spotting after 2 months - and it turned out to be retained products, so hopefully that isnt what you have!

I got offered to try BCP to regulate my hormones again as I was either having long cycles or one every two weeks, but I decided against it and although my body did regulate to a long cycle (45 days) I still managed to conceive.

I personally went with accupunture which I kept up with until I was 15 weeks pregnant and past the "danger" zone, I honestly beleive that it did me the world of good even if it was just the thought that I was activly doing something to keep my baby "safe".

A natropath sounds like a good idea too.

I really hope that your journey improves soon, lots of baby dust to you

Hey thanks so much for responding! When I posted this I was feeling like I would be being deliberately obstructive and shortsighted to bcp as an option, but from the responses on here, I’m feeling a bit more reassured that my gut feelings aren’t entirely always offtrack!! So Didi, your reply IS helpful!
The acupuncture/naturopath recommendation keeps coming up for me!
I did go for acupuncture in Jan til about May . . . I have been having bleeding through most of the luteal phase every cycle for over 2 years now, so I wanted acu to try and sort that . . . I noticed no change unfortunately.
I was VERY open to acu working for me (did wonders for hayfever years back, so I’m convinced it works on whatever level) but it didn’t seem to. I stopped as at the time we were not actively ttc (waiting for gynae appt), and the acu lady was wanting to know what the gynae was going to discover (which turned out to be nothing conclusive) so I didn’t go back . . . got utd for this most recent mc then.
I’m not rolling in barrels of money, this might sound tightfisted, but I don’t want to chuck hundreds more dollars at something that doesn’t seem to be working, this is coming out of the money I put aside for baby things like cots etc. I know its hard to know until you do it, but is part of the reason I've not gone straight from practioner to practitioner.

I usually do have regular cycles, and my temps are biphasic, its just the luteal bleeding and recurrent mc I want to get a handle on.
Had a naturopath recommended to me some weeks back and following the nudge from these threads I’ve left a message to see if that might be a possibility. I will drink tea that tastes of sh*te for weeks on end if it means happy healthy cycles and fullterm healthy living babies.

Hannahbil, I have had retained product, have just reached hcg of 1 this week - some 7 weeks later! So hopefully the bleeding might stop soon, its if it doesn't I wanted to be prepared for some medical person suggesting the pill again (various people have brought it up at various points but I have a different feeling to these 'nudges' to the naturopath ones, if that makes any sense).
I think if I was utd and was doing acu I would continue with it for the first trimester at least too . . . no sudden changes!
thanking you both for posting in here
